  • Patent number: 4610637
Abstract: A toy vehicle has a body having left and right side walls and an arcuate wall extending from front to rear located inbetween the left and right side walls. The body is supported by wheels, a portion of each of the wheels extending upwardly through an opening formed wherein the side walls join the arcuate wall. A cylindrical element is positioned on the vehicle over the arcuate wall between the left and the right side walls so as to rest on the portions of the wheels which extend upwardly through the openings in the arcuate wall. As the vehicle is rolled on a surface, rotation of the wheels of the vehicle is transferred to the cylindrical element to rotate the same on the body of the vehicle. The cylindrical element has a plurality of openings shaped so as to receive a like plurality of blocks. The blocks can be placed within the cylindrical element by inserting them through the appropriate openings.

  • Patent number: 4610638
Abstract: An activity toy, having a spherical housing which is flattened at its poles so as to be supportable at two places on a support surface, has an elongated helical member which extends within the interior from one of the poles to the other. A bushing is fitted around the helical member and is sized so as to very lightly frictionally engage the helical member whereby when it moves along the longitudinal axis of the helical member, the friction between it and the helical member rotates it on the helical member. A collar is located around the bushing. The collar is free to spin independent of the bushing. However, during travel of the bushing along the helical member, the rotation of the bushing is communicated to the collar. The collar includes a plurality of axles which extend away from the collar, each of which carries an object on its end.

  • Patent number: 4602790
Abstract: A game of skill has a housing with a hollow drum mounted inside the housing. A transparent indicia strip is mounted on the drum. A spring is positioned in front of the drum, and a light is located within the interior of the drum such that the light illuminates the indicia strip to cast an image of the strip on the screen. The light is connected to a handle which is controlled by the operator, whereby the image of the indicia is moved across the screen depending upon the operator movement of the handle. The handle further includes a fire button connected to a control mechanism which senses the concurrent depression of the fire button and the location of an image of the indicia on the screen in a target area outlined on the screen.

  • Patent number: 4591346
Abstract: A toy vehicle having a chassis and a plurality of wheels mounted on the chassis includes a wind up motor which is connected to at least one of the wheels. At least one detent is located in association with the wheel which is connected to the wind up motor. A member is mounted on the vehicle which is capable of engaging with the detent whenever the wheels of the vehicle no longer contact a support surface. Contact of the member in the detent prevents unwinding of the motor. Thus, whenever the wheels of the vehicle are not supported on the contact surface such as when the vehicle is overturned or the like the motor is prevented from unwinding.

  • Patent number: 4589660
Abstract: A miniature action toy suitable for strapping to the wrist of the user includes a windup motor having a control pawl and ratchet wheel. An indicia carrier strip is located on two spools which are driven by an output gear of the motor. A first control element is positioned over the indicia strip so as to move laterally side to side over the indicia strip, and up and down toward and away from the indicia strip. A second control element is positioned so as to contact the first control element and further includes a pawl locking element which is positioned so as to contact the motor pawl. In response to upward movement of the first control element away from the indicia strip, the pawl locking element locks with the motor pawl so as to freeze the motor. In response to movement of the first control element down toward the indicia strip, the pawl locking element disengages from the pawl so as to free the motor and allow the output gear to roll the spools and the indicia strip attached thereto.

  • Patent number: 4579538
Abstract: A construction toy utilizes a plurality of tubular elements which are connectable to each other or are connectable to one or more hollow members. Each of the tubular elements has a first skirt on one end and a second skirt on its opposite end which are of the same size and are utilized to attach the elements to the hollow members. Further, attaching to one of the skirts on one of the ends is a smaller skirt which allows the smaller skirt to be attached to one of the skirts on a further of the tubular elements so as to connect two tubular elements together. The tubular elements have a plurality of convolutions which allow them to be expanded or contracted so as to lengthen or foreshorten the tubular elements as well as allowing the tubular elements to bend during the construction of structures with the components of the invention.

  • Patent number: 4573928
Abstract: A teaching toy has a housing with a viewing screen located in the housing. Positioned behind the viewing screen is an indicia carrier located on rollers. A plurality of indicia is located on the surface of the indicia carrier. By rolling the indicia carrier on the rollers, different portions of the indicia located on the indicia carrier are viewable through the viewing screen. Associated with the indicia carrier and located in front of it between it and the screen are a series of cover members which can temporarily cover a part of the indicia which is exposed through the screen. Operator actuators are connected to the cover members so as to allow the cover members to sequentially move from a position wherein they cover the indicia to a position where they no longer cover the indicia. By sequentially utilizing the actuator members, a child utilizing the toy partially uncovers the indicia, allowing the child to guess what the total indicia will be.

  • Patent number: 4561723
Abstract: An electronic stereoscopic viewing device has an electronic signal generator which is coupled electronically to a liquid crystal display screen. The display screen upon receipt of a signal from the signal generator displays first and second views of an image with the first and second images being parallactically displaced with respect to one another. A first optical pathway conducts the first parallactically displaced view to a left eye viewing port and a second optical pathway conducts the second parallactically displaced view to a right eye viewing port. The optical pathways between the display screen and the left and right eye viewing ports are such that the first and second images are conducted to the respective left and right eye viewing ports in a manner maintaining the integrity of each such that the individually parallactically displaced first and second views of the images are received at the respective left and right eye viewing ports without contamination of one by the other.

  • Patent number: 4504056
Abstract: For use with a self-propelled object, a toy can be formed having a housing with a playing surface located thereon. The playing surface includes a circular depression having a member rotatably mounted in the circular depression and capable of rotating in the circular depression. An element and gear train are associated with the member to rotate the member in response to movement of the element. The member includes a surface which is in alignment with the playing surface such that the self-propelled object can be located on the playing surface and directed toward the member. When the object moves itself onto the member, the member is rotated, allowing the object to move off of the member in a different orientation with respect to the playing surface. A retaining rib is formed on the playing surface adjacent to the periphery of the rotatable member and partially surrounding it to inhibit movement of the object. Scoring depressions deep enough to retain the object are formed in the playing surface.

  • Patent number: 4489944
Abstract: An amusement device consisting of a manipulative egg-shaped puzzle having top and bottom housings rotatably connected by an internal mechanism. The top housing has a movable slide and a transparent window therein. The internal mechanism comprises a color marking thereon; a shaft fixedly connected to the bottom housing and extending from the bottom housing to the top housing; and a biased lever extending into the shaft for normally holding a movable weight at the top thereof, and an internal housing for supporting a plurality of rotation rings, each of which has a color marking thereon and a lever receptacle therein. When the bottom housing is rotated relative to the top housing the plurality of color markings may be aligned at the transparent window. Properly aligning the color markings necessarily aligns the rings and lever receptacles to allow the lever to move into the lever receptacles and out of the shaft.
