  • Patent number: 4112986
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for dadoing cabinet panels. The dados are cut by a plurality of routers selectively extended into the panel. The selection of the number of routers, translatory movement of each of the routers, and positioning of the panel is controlled by air operated mechanisms. A pneumatic control system processes the operation of the routers in response to the inputs from a plurality of manually settable controls and the signals developed by feed back mechanisms. SPThis is a division of application Ser. No. 600,726 filed 7/31/75 now U.S. Pat. No. 4,005,738.

  • Patent number: 4102647
Abstract: A process for removing condensates from light gaseous streams comprises passing the stream over an oleophilic substance, that is, a substance which retains liquid hydrocarbon compounds. Said substance is preferably an aromatic polymer such as a polystyrene cross-linked with a mixture of divinyl benzene and ethyl-vinyl benzene. The process is particularly applicable to the analysis of gaseous compounds, such as water, in said gaseous streams, where the presence of such condensates can render the analysis results erroneous. There is also described a gas analyzer which comprises a means for removing such condensates which means employs such an oleophilic substance.

  • Patent number: 4061437
Abstract: A manually operable boring apparatus powered by compressed air drills precisely located pilot holes in cabinet doors to assist in the installation of apertured cabinet hinges. Upon the command of an operator, the hole boring apparatus causes a drill assembly containing three rapidly rotating drill bits to extend one-quarter inch into the rear face of a cabinet door. The boring apparatus further includes a bracket and retractable indexing pins which locate the drill bits a predetermined distance from the end of the cabinet door.

  • Patent number: 4033172
Abstract: An apparatus for testing hollow bodies comprises a frame, a testing head mounted in the frame for axial motion with respect to and rotation about an axis, means for supporting at least one of the hollow bodies in axial alignment with the testing head and in a fixed position with respect to the axis during rotation of the testing head, means for imposing an axial motion to the testing head upon rotation of the head, means for feeding to the supporting means successive bodies to be tested, and means for removing from the supporting means bodies which have been tested.

  • Patent number: 3995473
Abstract: An inspection head to test objects such as plastic bottles for absence of leaks and crushing resistance includes a column having a seal for an aperture in the object which may be applied to the object to exert a crushing force and a fluid supply source to apply a pressure inside the object, which pressure is compared with a reference pressure by means of a movable diaphragm. When the object has an adequate resistance to crushing so that the column does not move beyond a certain point, and the object is free from leaks so that the difference in pressure does not exceed a given value, apertures in sliding members movable according to the positions of the diaphragm and column are in alignment, which fact may be checked by passing a light beam through the apertures. When the apertures are not in alignment the object may be rejected. The head may be used for continuous in-line inspection of objects which are produced successively.

  • Patent number: 3994647
Abstract: A blow molding machine having plural molds cyclically movable past an extruder for delivery to those molds of a tubular plastic parison includes a reciprocating blade which, upon interruption of the motion of the molds, is set in motion across the path of the parison emerging from the extruder to chop the parison into fragments and with a retractable trough for collecting the fragments for recycling or other disposition.

  • Patent number: 3949018
Abstract: A process for the preparation of polymers containing peroxide end-groups, in which one or more monomers, particularly alpha-olefins, are polymerized by means of a co-ordination catalyst in the presence of an adjuvant with the formula M(X)p, where M is boron or a metal in column IIb of the Periodic Table of Elements, p is the valency of M, and X is at least one monovalent organic radical, a hydrogen atom or a halogen, the polymer obtained is treated with a peroxidizing agent, without being de-activated, and the resulting polymer containing peroxide groups is collected.Polymers with peroxide end-groups obtained by this process, particularly olefins with peroxide end-groups, can be used to initiate polymerization of vinylic monomers, and are accordingly useful in the synthesis of block copolymers, in which one part is formed from the polymeric part of the macromolecular peroxide and the other part is derived from the vinylic monomer or monomers polymerized by means of this peroxide.

  • Patent number: 3947181
Abstract: A press for molding and blowing hollow articles includes plural mold halves disposed in a table at successive work stations about an axis, a platen carrying complimentary mold halves movable toward and away from the table, and a tool carrier journaled in that axis, reciprocatable with the platen and rotatable to index the tools from one station to another. A first collar journaled in the table about the shaft is rotatable for indexing purposes, and a second collar coupled to the shaft is provided for rotational engagement with the first collar to accept torque from the first collar while the mold halves are open, subject to manual disengagement of the collars by shift of the second collar axially of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 3934038
Abstract: Shredded, separated trash from which a portion of recyclable materials have been retrieved and recycled back into industry, leaving only unusable waste material, is compressed into a bale having a density sufficient to cause the bale to immediately sink in salt water and having a shape causing it to remain at the spot on the ocean floor to which it has sunk, immovable by ocean currents. The bale is sprayed both inside and out with an organic material which serves as food for micro-organisms which use the sunken bales of trash as feeding stations.
