  • Patent number: 7089206
Abstract: A trade allocation system includes a computer system having a network interface over which messages can be exchanged with an order management system. The computer system is also coupled to a first database that stores data associating portfolios with risk classes and target ratios. A second database stores instructions to configure the system to receive from order management systems messages describing trades of financial instruments. Each message can include a financial instrument identifier, a size of the trade, and a risk class identifier. The instructions also configure the processor to query the first database to determining a portfolios that are associated with a risk class identified by a risk class identifier in a message as well as to determine a target ratio for each of the portfolios. The processor then allocates the trade of the financial instrument among each of the portfolios based on the target ratios.

  • Patent number: 6968355
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing distributed functionality to a plurality of clients comprise the use of more provider servers which publish function objects to clients upon request. Each function object corresponds to a function that is supported by the provider server or a connected downstream provider server. Group definition can also be published by the provider server. The client software is dynamically responsive to the functions which are available from the provider servers and permit a user of the client to select specific functions from the set of available functions for execution. Functions can be executed by modifying the function object to include specific parameter values and sending it to a provider server. Results of function evaluation can be returned in a further modified function object. In a particular implementation, the functions return financial information about specified financial securities and the client graphically displays the returned data.

  • Patent number: 6952683
Abstract: A method for hedging an investor against a currency risk associated with a purchase of a security having a value, the investor having purchased the security in a foreign currency and the investor desiring to receive the proceeds from a sale of the security in a home currency. The foreign currency and home currency have an exchange rate at the time of the purchase and an exchange rate at the time of the sale. The method includes the steps of receiving a request for hedging against the currency risk for a time period. Next, a cost is calculated for hedging against the currency risk based on the foreign currency, the home currency, the exchange rate at the time of the purchase, the value and the time period. Next, the investor is provided with the proceeds from the sale based on the exchange rate at the time of the sale if the exchange rate at the time of the sale is greater than the exchange rate at the time of the purchase.
