    Abstract: An automated banking terminal for facilitating a financial transaction is provided. The automated banking terminal includes a processor, a display for presenting a set of customer menu options, and a communication interface. The automated banking terminal also includes expansion slots which have a mechanical interface and an electrical interface. Expansion modules may be connected to the processor through the expansion slots. An expansion module may be a cash dispensing module, a cash receiving and counting module, a check receiving module, a printer, a scanner, a biometric interface, a signature pad, an account card reader, or an account card programmer. The processor of the automated banking terminal is configured to detect the expansion module and determine additional menu options to supplement the customer menu options based on detecting the expansion module.

The system can cause a window requesting authentication credentials associated with an account of the user to appear on a display of a computing device associated with the user. After the system has received and verified the authentication credentials, the system can create a merchant-specific virtual card linked to a pre-existing payment instrument associated with the account. The system can enter information associated with the merchant-specific virtual card in a payment section of the payment webpage. After receiving an authorization request for a transaction using the merchant-specific virtual card, the system can authorize the transaction based on a balance of the pre-existing payment instrument.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for processing checks using 2D barcodes are provided. A user submits a digital image of a check that includes a 2D barcode. The 2D barcode has embedded positional information of one or more check features which can be decoded and compared to the check features optically identified on the digital image of the check. From this, a set of rotational and scaling adjustments can be computed by comparing estimated positional information with the positional information of the one or more check features retrieved from the barcode. A more accurate representation of the check is then produced by applying the set of rotational and scaling adjustments to the digital image of the check. Once a more accurate representation of the check has been produced, the check can be electronically processed using a routing transit number found on the check.

    Abstract: Authentication mechanisms are disclosed. For example, an enterprise associated number or a social security number (SSN) can be provided to enter a first level. Then, any one of a ZIP code number, a device identifier, a date of birth, and a portion of the SSN can be provided to access applications in the first level. Lastly, a PIN can be provided to enter a second level of the enterprise. Additionally, these authentication mechanisms can be added and/or changed. In the former case, if a user used a SSN to enter the mentioned first level, then a date of birth can be used to update an authentication mechanism. Alternatively, if a user used an enterprise number to gain such access, then part of the SSN can be used for the update. If the user wants to change the authentication mechanism, the date of birth can be used for the update.

These lockboxes can be used not only to store diverse content, ranging from birth certificates to deeds and social security numbers, but they can also be accessed in a variety of ways. For example, keys to lockboxes can be made available by such events as the issuing of death certificates or birth certificates. Alternatively, keys can be issued according to various rules and heuristics stipulated by lockbox users. In either case, the plurality of lockboxes residing in repositories can be configured to provide centralized storage facilities that are secure and readily accessible from various computing devices.

The entered pattern may be compared to the original pattern and, if the patterns correspond, the individual may be provided with requested access to a secure area and/or secure data.
