  • Publication number: 20140309161
Abstract: The invention relates to modified antibiotic peptides, in particular derivatives of apidaecin and oncocin, preferably having increased stability, reduced immunoreaction, and improved pharmacokinetics. In the invention, the peptide antibiotics are reversibly protected by means of a linker having the polymer polyethylene glycol (PEG). The peptide linker contains a recognition sequence for trypsin-like serum proteases. In the apidaecin derivatives, the linker and the PEG are bonded to a side chain. In the serum, the linker is cut by serum proteases and PEG is separated off. The released peptide still contains remnants of the linker, which are still bonded to the amino group in the side chain. Astonishingly, said remaining remnants of the linker impair the activity of the antimicrobial peptide only a little or not at all.

  • Patent number: 8855149
Abstract: A Fabry-Pérot tunable filter device is described with reflecting elements separated by an optical path length to form an optical resonator cavity. A first actuator means is directly or indirectly coupled with a first reflecting element. And the first actuator means is configured to modulate the optical path length between first and second reflecting elements by a modulation amplitude to thereby sweep the optical resonator cavity through a band of optical resonance frequencies with a sweep frequency of 70 kHz or more. And the mechanical coupling between selected elements of the arrangement is sufficiently low such that when operated at the sweep frequency, the selected elements act as a system of coupled oscillating elements. In addition or alternatively, the first actuator means is directly or indirectly coupled with the first reflecting element so as to substantially drive the first reflecting element only.

  • Publication number: 20140291151
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) having a cathode-electrolyte-anode unit supported by a metal substrate. It is the object of the invention in this respect to provide solid oxide fuel cells which achieve an increased strength, improved temperature change resistance, a secure bonding of films forming the cathode-electrolyte-anode unit and can be produced free of distortion and reproducibly. In the method in accordance with the invention, a film forming the anode is first wet chemically applied to a surface of a porous metallic substrate as a carrier of the cathode-electrolyte-anode unit. An element which has already been sintered gas tight in advance and which forms the electrolyte is then placed on or applied a really to this film forming the anode and at a first thermal treatment up to a maximum temperature of 1250° C.

  • Patent number: 8845911
Abstract: A method is provided for producing a microstructured molded object that is intended for culturing of biological cells. According to this method, a plastically deformable first porous film is prepared, as well as a deformable second film and a deformable sacrificial film. The first, second and sacrificial film are placed in a stack. Next, the sacrificial film is subjected to pressure to press the stack into a mold. The mold has recesses, such that deformed regions in the form of cavities are produced in the sacrificial film, the first film and the second film, and undeformed regions remain. During the pressing of the film stack into the mold, the first film and the second film are joined to each other, so that they form a composite film. At least portions of the deformed regions of the second film are etched so that sections of the second film are chemically dissolved.
