  • Patent number: 9562216
Abstract: Provided are a microfluidic platform for cell culturing and a cell culturing method using the same. By applying a structure of a compartment which surrounds at least a portion of an annular reservoir and moving cells to be cultured to a site adjacent to a microchannel via rotation, a probability of observing cells that grew after culturing may increase and a probability of causing cells, particularly neurons, to grow so as to correspond to a signal transfer direction may increase.

  • Patent number: 9416196
Abstract: There is provided a composition for prophylaxis or treatment of vascular or valvular calcification including a dipeptidylpeptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. The DPP-4 according to one exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure is expressed at an increased level when blood vessels and valves are calcified, and the calcification decreases remarkably upon administration of the DPP-4 inhibitor. Therefore, the DPP-4 inhibitor can be useful in treatment or prophylaxis of blood vessels or valves.

  • Patent number: 9413213
Abstract: A stator of a switched reluctance motor includes a stator core part, stator coiling parts, stator salient parts, and pairs of permanent magnets. The stator coiling parts protrude inwardly from the stator core part and have coils wound on an external side thereof. The stator salient parts protrude inwardly from the stator core part and are disposed between the stator coiling parts. Each pair of the permanent magnets is inserted into each of the stator coiling parts and magnetized in the same direction as a direction of a magnetic field generated by the excitation of the coils. This stator has an electromagnetic structure designed to prevent the reversal of a magnetic field generated by the excited coils. The output of the motor is enhanced by inserting the permanent magnets so as to be magnetized in the same direction as a direction of a magnetic field generated by the excited coils.

  • Publication number: 20130177914
Abstract: Disclosed are primer sets specific for the IS6110 or 16S rRNA gene characteristic of MTC and for the 16S rRNA gene characteristic of NTM, kits for the detection of MTC and NTM, comprising the same, and methods for detecting MTC and NTM by duplex PCR using the same. Because the primers are exclusive to Mycobacterium tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacteria, the methods, which can employ an inexpensive typical PCR cycler, can be a clinical diagnostic means useful for the detection of both Mycobacterium tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacteria at the same time, with higher efficiency.
