  • Patent number: 11331375
Abstract: Inflammatory cell recruitment to local sites of tissue injury and/or infection is controlled by many signaling processes influencing cell-to-cell interactions between vascular endothelial cells (EC) in post-capillary venules and circulating leukocytes. Here we report that the ATP-release channel Pannexin1 (Panx1) opens downstream of EC activation by tumor necrosis factor ? (TNF ?). This process involves activation of Type 1 TNF receptors, recruitment of Src Family Kinases (SFK), and SFK-dependent phosphorylation of Panx1. We report a previously unidentified role for Panx1 channels in promoting leukocyte adhesion and emigration through the venous wall during acute systemic inflammation. The present application further discloses that Panx IL2 peptide consisting of amino acid sequence KYPIVEQYLKYGRKKQRR (SEQ ID NO: 3) or 10Panx1 peptide consisting of amino acid sequence RQAAFVDSY (SEQ ID NO: 8) are inhibitors of leukocyte adhesion.

  • Publication number: 20220126293
Abstract: A fluidic storage device capable of long-term storage of biological, chemical, and biochemical substances, including fluids and solids of a corrosive nature or generally incompatible with traditional reagent storage methods like blister packs. The fluidic device employs a fiber-based substrate which allows the substance to be stored long-term within the structure of the fiber-based substrate through capillary action. The stored substance can be released from the fiber-based substrate and used as needed as a result of active or passive forces incurred on the fluidic device. The storage as described herein will assist in minimizing the hazards associated with performing POI and POC testing by scaling down the required reagent volumes as well as facilitating long-term reagent storage and analysis on a single integrated, portable fluidic device.

  • Patent number: 11294015
Abstract: Suppressing artifacts in MRI image acquisition data includes alternatives to phase cycling by using a Convolutional Neural Network to suppress the artifact-generating echos. A U-NET CNN is trained using phase-cycled artifact-free images for ground truth comparison with received displacement encoded stimulated echo (DENSE) images. The DENSE images include data from a single acquisition with both stimulated (STE) and T1-relaxation echoes. The systems and methods of this disclosure are explained as generating artifact-free images in the ultimate output and avoiding the additional data acquisition needed for phase cycling and shortens the scan time in DENSE MRI.
