Abstract: Disclosed are a composition and a method for diagnosing breast cancer using extracellular vesicle-miRNA. The composition for diagnosing the breast cancer according includes an agent that measures an expression level of at least one miRNA selected from a group consisting of miR-9, MiR-16, MiR-21, and MiR-429. Furthermore, the method for diagnosing breast cancer includes measuring an expression level of at least one miRNA selected from a group consisting of MiR-9, MiR-16, MiR-21, and MiR-429 from a sample, and diagnosing the breast cancer based on the measurement result.

Abstract: An electrochemical cell includes an anode, a cathode and an electrolyte in contact with the anode and the cathode, wherein the electrolyte and at least one of the anode or the cathode includes a compound which compound includes either an amino group or a carboxyl group or both (preferably an amino acid, a peptide, or a combination thereof). Alternatively, if the anode is formed from a combination of a metal and a metal oxide, then the electrolyte and/or at least one of the anode or the cathode can include said compound (i.e. it does not have to be present on both). Use of these cells significantly reduces the overpotential of the electrochemical splitting of water, thereby enabling the production of hydrogen in a much more energy efficient manner.
Abstract: In some embodiments, initial feedback indicating threshold characteristics (under which a user sees initial stimuli presented on a user interface) may be provided to a prediction model, and a set of predicted characteristics (for a set of locations of the user interface) may be obtained via the prediction model. Based on predicted characteristics associated with one or more selected locations, stimuli may be presented at the selected locations during the visual test presentation. Visual defect information for the user may be generated based on feedback from the visual test presentation. In some embodiments, the selection of the locations to be tested during a visual test presentation may be performed based on a set of confidence scores associated with the predicted characteristics. As an example, the locations may be selected over one or more other locations of the set of locations based on the set of confidence scores.

Abstract: Disclosed are example efficient circuits that produce spark discharges for hydrocarbon conversion (or treatment of other mixtures) using a high-voltage rectified DC supply to discharge a capacitor (either internal or external) across a two-electrode gap, optimized to minimize waste energy by operating in a constant current, approximately-constant current, or constant power mode. The circuits may operate off of a standard electrical supply line (e.g. 120 VAC or 240 VAC, 60 Hz, single-phase or multi-phase). The disclosed approach is scalable to any number of discharge gaps while maintaining similar pulse characteristics and electrical efficiency.

Abstract: In a pipeline inspection system, a hollow spherical ball has an internal ultrasonic vibration module, an internal battery for powering the vibration module, and an internal, wirelessly operated, control for controlling the vibration module while the ball is moving, with liquid, along the pipeline. Liquid, having a reduced oxygen content, is pumped through the pipeline, and filtered before returning to the pipeline. Each of a plurality of holes, connecting the interior to the exterior of the ball, is tapered proceeding in the direction from the interior to the exterior, resulting in the formation of a blade structure where the interior of each hole meets the outer surface of the ball at an inclined angle. When the blade structure is in contact with the wall of the pipe, and caused to vibrate by the vibration module, it is able to cut off scale from the interior of the pipe.
