  • Patent number: 11142799
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus determine whether a first chromosomal region exhibits a deletion or an amplification associated with cancer in a sample from a subject (e.g., where the sample includes a mixture of cell-free DNA from tumor cells and non-malignant cells. Nucleic acid molecules of the biological sample are sequenced. Respective amounts of a clinically-relevant chromosomal region and of background chromosomal region(s) are determined from results of the sequencing. A parameter derived from these amounts (e.g. a ratio) is compared to one or more cutoff values, thereby determining a classification of whether first chromosomal region exhibits a deletion or an amplification associated with cancer.

  • Patent number: 11146063
Abstract: The wide application of power electronic components in power systems with renewable energy sources has changed the fault characteristics of conventional power systems, resulting in the performance degradation of conventional protections. To solve these problems, a novel principle of pilot protection based on structural similarity and square error criteria is provided. The structural similarity criterion utilizes the difference of fault characteristics between renewable sources and synchronous generators to identify internal faults, and the square error criterion is used to solve abnormal calculation of the conventional similarity based protection. Compared with conventional differential protections, the disclosed protection shows excellent performance in speed and reliability during various faults.

  • Patent number: 11143171
Abstract: An atmosphere-breathing pulsed plasma thruster includes an inlet, a discharge section with an anode in fluid communication with the inlet, and a nozzle in fluid communication with the discharge section. Electrode assemblies extend radially through the discharge section and include a second electrode in the discharge section and an elongate portion extending outwardly. An electrode control mechanism moves the plurality of electrode assemblies between an inner position nearer to the anode and an outer position farther from the anode. At least one igniter extends between the anode and a cathode. An ignition circuit connects the anode and the cathodes to a first source of electric energy, and connects the igniter to a second source of electric energy through a controllable switch. A processor controls the position of the second electrodes, for example, in response to changes in atmospheric pressure.

  • Patent number: 11143091
Abstract: An efficient engine combustion system with multiple combustion modes, includes a valve actuating mechanism, a pre-combustion chamber, and a main combustion chamber. The valve actuating mechanism is a fully variable valve mechanism; an intake valve and an exhaust valve are driven by high-pressure oil; ignition is implemented by means of an ignition apparatus of the pre-combustion chamber; and a spark plug and a single-hole fuel injector are mounted in the pre-combustion chamber, a bottom end of which is provided with a flame jet hole. The continuous variable of valve timing and real-time adjustment of valve lift are realized by the control of a three-position four-way servo valve, driven by the high-pressure oil and monitored by a displacement sensor. The efficient engine combustion system with multiple combustion modes employs different combustion modes under different engine conditions, so as to ensure optimal thermal efficiency under different operating condition regions.
