Abstract: A power converter comprising one or more switch blocks. Each switch block has: a plurality of switch-pairs each having two switches connected in series to each other; a plurality of primary nodes each interconnecting the switches in a respective switch-pair; and a plurality of secondary nodes, each switch-pair being connected in series to an adjacent switch-pair through a said secondary node to form a serial chain of switch-pairs, the secondary nodes including a secondary node at one end of said serial chain and a secondary node at another end of said serial chain. Each adjacent pair of said primary nodes is connectable to a flying capacitor. Each pair of said secondary nodes is connectable to one or more of the following: one or more bypass capacitors, and one or more other said switch blocks.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an orthopedic device and method for carpal fusion that provides bone to bone compression and multiple fixation points to decrease multiple degrees of freedom and motion of carpal bones. Abstract: A method for predicting formation permeability by measuring diffusional tortuosity in several directions by pulse gradient NMR. The method comprises evaluating an anisotropic diffusion coefficient by pulsed gradient NMR, determining diffusional tortuosity from the restricted diffusion data, supplementing the NMR results with resistivity and sonic logging data, measuring anisotropic tortuosity and porosity by resistivity and sonic data and combining all components in a single fitting model. The 11-coefficient model is trained to recognize the true values of permeability by comparing the real oil permeabilities measured in a library of oil-carrying rock cores with the NMR, resistivity and sonic correlates. The fitting coefficients are extracted by minimizing the discrepancy between the laboratory measured permeabilities and the predicted values combining all rapid logging information components with the agreement-maximizing weights.

Abstract: A method for determining a quality of a friction stir welded seam is described. The method involves applying an impact to a welded plate and comparing its damping capacity with the damping capacity of a geometrically equivalent defect-free plate. Damping capacities that differ by a small percent difference indicate that the welded plate is also defect-free. This method is particularly advantageous when dealing with small defects, which produce miniscule changes in natural frequency which may not be measureable.

Abstract: A data recovery method framework is described, in which the data is classified as either ambient or disturbance data, and recovered by different methods to achieve good performance efficiently. An approach based on decision tree is described for identifying ambient and disturbance data. Then, an improved cubic spline interpolation based on the priority allocation strategy is described for ambient data loss, which can quickly and accurately recover ambient data. Simultaneously, a disturbance data recovery method based on singular value decomposition is described. It can achieve disturbance data recovery accurately by a single channel of measurement.
Abstract: Mixed ligand phosphinogold(I) complexes as anticancer agents. The gold(I) ion of the complexes is coordinated to a phosphine and a dithiocarbamate or halogen ligand. Also described are a pharmaceutical composition incorporating the phosphinogold(I) complex, a method of synthesizing the phosphinogold(I) complex, and a method of treating cancer. The phosphinogold(I) complexes exhibit potent cytotoxicity against lung, cervical, and liver cancer cells.

On the basis of a traditional enzymatic production process of maltodextrin, starch branching enzyme derived from Rhodothermus obamensis is introduced, an ?-1,4-glycosidic bond is cleaved, the cleaved short chain is ligated to a receptor chain to form an ?-1,6-branch point, so the degree of branching is increased and the maltodextrin has more cluster structures. Thereby, the aims that the stability of the maltodextrin is enhanced and the maltodextrin is not easy to retrograde are achieved, and the freeze-thaw stability of the maltodextrin is also improved. The method specifically comprises the steps of slurry preparation, spray liquefaction, starch branching enzyme action, filtration, decolorization, ion exchange, concentration, spray drying, and the like.
