Abstract: It has been established that inhibition of the expression and function of nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) can treat Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) in a patient in need thereof. Compositions and methods of an effective amount of one or more inhibitors of intracellular NAMPT (iNAMPT), extracellular NAMPT (eNAMPT), or a receptor of eNAMPT, to treat PAH are provided. The compositions and methods reduce, or reverse the physiological vascular changes associated with the onset and progression of PAH. Inhibitors of NAMPT or receptors of NAMPT include small molecules, antibodies and antigen binding fragments thereof. Dosage forms including monoclonal antibody inhibitors of NAMPT or NAMPT receptors in an amount between 10 mg and 400 mg are provided. Dosage forms including small molecule inhibitors of NAMPT in an amount between 10 mg/kg and 3.5 mg/kg body weight of the recipient are also provided.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for preparing self-dispersing nano carbon black based on a thiol-ene click reaction. A sol-gel technique is used to graft a coupling agent containing a carbon-carbon double bond onto the surface of the carbon black, and a functional molecular chain is grafted onto the surface of the carbon black by a thiol-ene click reaction with a mercapto compound. The self-dispersing nano carbon black is obtained after centrifugation, washing and drying. The method is simple and easy to operate, has a high grafting rate, and can prepare self-dispersing nano carbon black adaptable to different systems by selecting mercapto compounds with different functional groups.

Abstract: Methods for identifying and treating cancer patients likely to respond to topoisomerase inhibitors or likely to fail to respond to topoisomerase inhibitors are provided. The methods take advantage of the newly discovered role of BAF complexes in decatenation of DNA by topoisomerase IIa. Cancer cells are frequently at least partly defective in BAF complex activity. Such cells are targeted for therapy using certain topoisomerase IIa inhibitors according to the disclosed methods of treatment. Therapy of such cells using other topoisomerase inhibitors should be avoided.

Abstract: A server in a blockchain distribution network includes a processor and a transceiver operatively coupled to the processor. The transceiver is configured to receive bytes of an encrypted blockchain from a peer node in a peer-to-peer network, where the server is unable to identify a source node that generated the encrypted blockchain based on the received bytes. The transceiver is also configured to propagate the bytes of the encrypted blockchain to one or more additional peer nodes and to one or more additional servers in the blockchain distribution network.
Abstract: A composition of matter for tissue engineering is disclosed. The composition comprises a plurality of electrospun albumin fibers, wherein an outer surface of the composition comprises a pattern of ridges or indentations, wherein the ridges or indentations are wider than the diameter of a single electrospun albumin fiber of the plurality of electrospun albumin fibers.
Abstract: Disclosed herein are organic photosensitive optoelectronic devices, such as organic photovoltaics, including a photoactive region, wherein the photoactive region contains an energy-cascading multilayer donor region. The energy-cascading multilayer donor region may drive exciton transfer from an anode to a dissociating interface while reducing exciton quenching, improving overlap with the solar spectrum, and minimizing polaron pair recombination, resulting in improved device performance.
