  • Publication number: 20200001263
Abstract: An encapsulation system and method including a solution having a first system with a first rate of removal, a second system with a second rate of removal, and a material soluble in the first system, but not soluble in the second system. The first rate of removal is quicker than the second rate of removal, and removal of the first system from the solution creates a concentration of the second system and the material migrates around the second system. Thus, the material creates a shell around the second system, generating a capsule with a shell of the material and a core of the second system. Such material may include a polymer, copolymer, or block copolymer, while the second system is poor solvent for the material, such as hexadecane or Oil Red O. The first system is a good solvent for the material and is readily removable from solution via evaporation during processes like electrospraying.

  • Patent number: 10517477
Abstract: Methods and systems for single beam scanning capable of imaging the surface of a spherical body of arbitrary radius of curvature are provided. The spherical imaging methods and systems utilize one or more off-axis parabolic (OAP) mirror to perform a geometrical transformation of the spherical surface to a flat rectilinear imaging coordinate grid such that the single scanning beam maintains a normal incidence across the curved field of view of the spherical body. The imaging methods and systems project the spherical surface to a Cartesian plane and then the remapped surface is rapidly imaged by raster-scanning an illumination beam in the rectangular coordinate such that the OAP mirror produces a rectilinear image of the target. The imaging of the spherical surface is accomplished while maintaining the target, illumination source, and detector in a stationary position. The imaging systems and methods may utilize a single source and a single detector, and may incorporate a THz illumination source.

  • Patent number: 10519362
Abstract: A method for residual oil recovery from oil reservoirs, and diagnostic tests for determining its efficiency using a single well are described. The method includes injecting oil into a well in a reservoir that has been previously waterflooded or an oil reservoir or zone of an oil reservoir which contains immobile oil at the time of discovery, and extracting the oil by waterflooding the charged zones by placing the injection well in production. The target zone from which oil is recovered may be increased by following injection of oil with injection of water to push an oil bank which grows in volume as a function of distance of propagation, because of the effect of waterflooding on residual oil. The well may then be placed in production and the oil bank volume will continue to increase in volume as it returns to the well, again because of the waterflooding effect. The oil bank is then produced at the surface.

  • Patent number: 10521441
Abstract: The invention provides efficient searching with fuzzy criteria in very large information systems. The technique of the present invention uses the Pigeonhole Principle approach. This approach can be utilized with different embodiments, but the most effective realization would be to amplify some already given intrinsic approximate matching capabilities, like those in the FuzzyFind method [1][2]. Considering the following problem, data to be searched is presented as a bit-attribute vector. The searching operation includes finding a subset of this bit-attribute vector that is within particular Hamming distance. Normally, this search with approximate matching criteria requires sequential lookup for the whole collection of the attribute vector. This process can be easily parallelized, but in very large information systems this still would be slow and energy consuming.

  • Patent number: 10524334
Abstract: A lighting device (e.g. LED driver) includes digital dimming, configuration and firmware updating via wireless communication circuitry and associated volatile memory (e.g., SRAM). A power stage converts AC mains input into a DC bus voltage, and further converts the DC bus voltage into output current for driving a load. A power distribution circuit generates a regulated DC voltage based on the DC bus voltage. A wireless interface circuit is linked to a wireless communications network (e.g., NFC), and configured to receive device configuration data during at least first operating conditions when the regulated DC voltage is unavailable, and further to receive dimming control data during second operating conditions when the regulated DC voltage is available. A controller generates gate driving signals for regulating the output current from the power stage, said gate driving signals generated based at least in part on the device configuration data and the dimming control data.
