Abstract: A planar Hall effect (PHE) sensor for measuring at an external magnetic field includes a plurality of elongated magnetic regions. Each magnetic region includes a ferromagnetic material that is magnetized along a longitudinal axis. The magnetic regions cross one another at an overlap region that is characterized by a plurality of easy magnetic axes. At least two pairs of electrical leads are each aligned along one of the easy magnetic axes. A current source may be connected to a first pair of the electrical leads to cause a current to flow through the overlap region along a first easy magnetic axis. A voltage measurement device may be connected to another pair of the electrical leads to measure a PHE voltage that is generated by a component of the external magnetic field that is perpendicular to the easy magnetic axis along which the overlap region is magnetized.

Abstract: Provided are methods for characterizing nucleotide accessibility and nucleic acid structure at single nucleotide resolution, using a combination of low-yield bisulfite conversion and next-generation sequencing (NGS). Cytosine (C) nucleotides that are in base-paired states or bound to proteins, etc. are less accessible to chemical reactions and thus exhibit lower bisulfite conversion yields. Analysis of NGS results of a low-yield bisulfite conversion product can thus inform nucleotide accessibility and nucleic acid structure. Compared to other methods for chemical probing of nucleic acid structure, the present methods provide higher information throughput, because each NGS read simultaneously reports on the base pair status of multiple nucleotides.

Abstract: A metal detector for buried and abandoned chemical weapons is provided, comprising: a transmitting circuit to transmit a detection signal; a frequency selection unit electrically connected to the transmitting circuit and configured to regulate a frequency of the detection signal; a receiving circuit to receive a reflected signal returned from the substance detected; an analog-digital conversion unit electrically connected to the receiving circuit and configured to convert the reflected signal into a digital signal; and a control unit electrically connected to the analog-digital conversion unit. In the present disclosure, the frequency of the detection signal can be regulated by changing a current frequency of the transmitting circuit, so that several forms of iron compound can be detected, thereby increasing the detection accuracy of the ACWs.
Abstract: A method for determining a physical similarity simulation material of a solid backfill body is provided. A compaction test is run on a gangue backfill body in a lab, to obtain a ?-? curve regarding the gangue backfill body in the compaction process. Backfill blocks are made by using a thin wood board, sponge, and a paper sheet in different proportions, and then an unconfined compression test is separately run on the backfill blocks used for physical similarity simulation, to obtain ?i-?i curves regarding the backfill blocks in the compression process. A sum of squared errors ?(?i??0)2 is introduced to separately calculate a sum of squared errors of the backfill block and that of the gangue backfill body, and accordingly an error between ?-? curves regarding the test block and the gangue backfill body is determined. Finally, a backfill block for which the sum of squared errors is less than 0.5 is determined as a physical similarity simulation material of the gangue backfill body.
