Abstract: The present invention belongs to the field of advanced manufacturing technology and relates to one set-up and method of electrohydrodynamic jet 3D printing based on resultant effect of electric field and thermal field. This method is used to fabricate micro/nano 3D structure, under the resultant effects of electro hydrodynamic force and thermal field. First of all, the ink reaches needle orifice at a constant speed under the resultant effect of fluid field and gravity field. Then a high voltage electric field is applied between needle and substrate. And the ink is dragged to form stable micro/nano scale jet which is far smaller than the needle size using the electric field shear force generated at needle orifice. The solvent evaporation rate of ink increases combined with the radiation of thermal field at the same time. Finally, the micro/nano scale 3D structure is fabricated on substrate with the accumulation of jet layer by layer.

Abstract: A porous activated asphaltene material is described with a method of making and a method of using for the adsorption of a contaminant from a solution. The porous activated asphaltene material may be made by functionalizing solid asphaltene with nitric acid, and then treating the product with a metal hydroxide. The resulting porous activated asphaltene material exhibits a high porosity, and may be cleaned and reused for adsorbing contaminants.

Abstract: Light Sheet Theta (LS-0) Microscopy achieves large sample imaging capabilities without affecting the imaging depth or the image quality. An optical layout places a detection objective normal to the sample surface, while placing the illumination objectives that generate light sheets at an angle (theta) significantly smaller than 90 degrees. In this configuration, the light sheets enter from same side of the sample as the detection objective. The intersection of the light-sheet and the detection focal plane results in a line illumination-detection profile that is discriminated by a camera.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods for expanding tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), such as tumor-infiltrating T cells, utilizing an agonist of PGC1? in vivo, ex vivo, or both. Exhausted T cells present in the TIL population fail to effectively proliferate, produce cytokines, or kill target cells. The present disclosure provides methods to correct these defects through the use of pharmacologic agents to reprogram the metabolism of the exhausted intratumoral T cells. Exemplary agonists of PGC1? include proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)-gamma agonists (e.g., a thiazolidinedione (TZD), aleglitazar, farglitazar, muraglitazar, or tesaglitazar), AMPK activators (e.g., 5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleotide, AICAR), and sirtuin activators (e.g., resveratrol, SRT1720, SRT2104, SRT2183, SRT1460). Also provided are kits can compositions that can be used with such methods.

Abstract: A neural device to which a conditioned response function is imparted and a driving method thereof are disclosed. Quantum dots and a polymer insulating layer are formed between upper and lower electrodes. Conductive filaments are formed at interfaces between the quantum dots and the polymer insulating layer. When a positive pulse, which is an unconditioned stimulus signal, is applied, the conductive filaments are formed, and a low resistance state is implemented. As the number of applications of a negative pulse, which is a conditioned stimulus signal, increases, the neural device is switched from a high resistance state to the low resistance state. Through this, the neural device having learning ability for the conditioned stimulus signal may be implemented and driven.

Abstract: Thin film coatings and methods of manufacture thereof are presented. Ultra-thin coatings of cross-linked high-methoxyl pectin polysaccharides were fabricated by spin-casting solutions of citrus pectin followed by cross-linking upon exposure to solutions of calcium chloride (CaCl2) in ethanol. By adjusting temperature, degree of cross-linking, and pH of the surroundings, the pectin coatings can be carefully tuned for a desired response.
Abstract: A fabrication method for a flexible bifacial dye-sensitized solar cell is described. The method involves forming a flexible counter electrode of crystalline Pt nanoparticles on a first conductive layer by irradiating a precursor solution with a UV lamp. A flexible photoanode is formed by applying metal oxide particles to a second conductive layer, and then the solar cell is constructed by sandwiching an electrolyte between the counter electrode and photoanode.
