Abstract: The present invention relates to a comprehensive evaluation method for the performance of contaminated flat membranes, which relates to the field of sewage and waste resource technology. The present invention firstly analyzed the composition of the surface elements of the contaminated membrane by EDX to determine the type of membrane contamination, and then designed different cleaning schemes for organic or inorganic pollution to obtain a sample membrane. When the tensile strength of the contaminated membrane decreased more than 50% than that of the control membrane, it is a waste membrane; when the tensile strength decreased less than 50% and the membrane flux reduced more than 30%, it is a waste membrane; when tensile strength decreased less than 50%, membrane flux reduced less than 30% and the carbon footprint was more than 188 g, it is a waste membrane; otherwise was a old membrane.

Abstract: A method for multi-user CAx editing includes monitoring an operational state of a processor of a first CAx client, receiving, at a communication filter of the first CAx client, a first remote operation to be executed by the first CAx client in a CAx environment, populating the first remote operation to a queue formed in a memory structure in response to a determination that the operational state of the processor of the first CAx client is executing a local operation when the first remote operation is received, and executing the first remote operation in the CAx environment on the first CAx client in response to a determination that the operational state of the processor of the first CAx client is idle. A computer program product such as a computer readable medium and a computer system corresponding to the above method are also disclosed herein.

Abstract: Provided are methods of decoding speech from the brain of a subject. The methods include detecting speech production signals from electrodes operably coupled to the speech motor cortex of a subject while the subject produces or imagines producing a speech sound. The methods further include deriving a speech production signal pattern from the detected speech production signals, and correlating the speech production signal pattern with a reference speech production signal pattern to decode speech from the brain of the subject. Speech communication systems and devices for practicing the subject methods are also provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the real-time identification of seizures in an Electroencephalogram (EEG) signal. The method provides for patient-independent seizure identification by use of a multi-patient trained generic Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. The SVM classifier is operates on a large feature vector combining features from a wide variety of signal processing and analysis techniques. The method operates sufficiently accurately to be suitable for use in a clinical environment. The method may also be combined with additional classifiers, such a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) classifier, for improved robustness, and one or more dynamic classifiers such as an SVM using sequential kernels for improved temporal analysis of the EEG signal.

Abstract: A method for creating a nanostructure surface, comprises creating a nanostructure master having a surface being the negative of a shape that, when illuminated with a predefined illumination, provides a unique optical pattern; and creating nanostructure molds from the nanostructure master, wherein each nanostructure mold has a negative of the master surface which, when illuminated with the predefined illumination, provides the unique optical pattern, which may be a hologram. A nanotag may incorporate an image for identification and a unique pattern that can be identified for authentication.
Abstract: An energy storage-combined cooling, heating and power (S-CCHP) system for a building receives energy from a source, for example an intermittent source, and stores the energy in first and second high temperature energy storage (HTES) units. A Brayton cycle using the first HTES unit produces hot and pressurized air that is further heated in the second HTES unit. The heated air drives a turbine to generate electricity for the building. A portion of the compressed air from the Brayton cycle is diverted to a hot water heat exchanger, then to another turbine to produce electricity to the building. The hot water heat exchanger heats water for the building and the other turbine exhaust cools water for building cooling. Heat exchangers are strategically placed to optimize the thermal efficiency of the cycle. In some embodiments the heat transfer fluid is humidified to improve thermal energy transfer properties.
