Abstract: The present invention discloses a circulating magnetoelectric-induction reaction system and application thereof. The system comprises an alternating induction voltage unit, an alternating induction magnetic field unit, a low-frequency power supply, and a feed liquid container. The alternating induction voltage unit is mainly composed of a closed iron core, a primary coil, a secondary coil, and an induction voltage cavity. The alternating induction magnetic field unit is mainly composed of a C-shaped iron core, a primary coil, and a magnetic field cavity. The low-frequency power supply is connected to the primary coils in the alternating induction voltage unit and the alternating induction magnetic field unit and provides excitation voltage for the primary coils. The secondary coil comprises an insulating pipeline, which serves as a feed liquid circulating pipeline, and has both ends exposed out of the induction voltage cavity, with one end as a feed inlet and the other as a discharge outlet.
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for measuring a local permeability of a porous material. A probe can be positioned perpendicular to the surface of the material. The probe can be configured to sense a velocity of a fluid flowing over the surface. The probe can be positioned at a distance determined based on an average porosity of the material. The probe can take measurements at various positions at the distance by moving a minimum dimension between each measurement.

Abstract: In response to a detected presence of an intended target appliance within a logical topography of controllable appliances identity information associated with the intended target appliance is used to automatically add to a graphical user interface of a controlling device an icon representative of the intended target appliance and to create at a Universal Control Engine a listing of communication methods for use in controlling corresponding functional operations of the intended target appliance. When the icon is later activated, the controlling device is placed into an operating state appropriate for controlling functional operations of the intended target appliance while the Universal Control Engine uses at least one of the communication methods to transmit at least one command to place the intended target appliance into a predetermined operating state.
Abstract: This invention provides a groundbreaking approach to PLNPs and their preparation. In particular, the synthetic methodology disclosed herein fundamentally differs from the traditional solid-state annealing reactions that require extreme and harsh reaction conditions. In one unique aspect of the invention, a simple, one-step mesoporous template method utilizing mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) is disclosed that affords in vivo rechargeable NIR-emitting mesoporous PLNPs with uniform size and morphology. In another unique aspect of the invention, the novel synthetic approach is based on aqueous-phase chemical reactions conducted in mild conditions, resulting in uniform and homogeneous PLNPs with desired size control (e.g., sub-10 nm).
Abstract: A method of displaying data visualizations includes retrieving a dataset from a multidimensional database, where the dataset includes a plurality of fields, including first and second fields, and the first field is a data hierarchy that includes multiple subfields. The method further includes displaying a GUI with a first region displaying the plurality of fields (with the first field in a collapsed state), a second region with a plurality of shelves, and a third region. In response to receiving a user action to display the first field in an expanded state, the method displays the first field and the multiple subfields in a hierarchical structure. The method receives additional user actions to: (i) associate a first subfield of the plurality with a first shelf, and (ii) associate the second field with a second shelf, and then displays, in accordance with the user actions, a data visualization in the third region.

Abstract: A linear predictive coding apparatus is provided that performs linear predictive analysis using a pseudo correlation function signal sequence obtained by performing inverse Fourier transform regarding the ?1-th power of the absolute values of the frequency domain sample sequence corresponding to the time-series signal as a power spectrum to obtain coefficients transformable to linear predictive coefficients. The apparatus further adapts values of ? for a plurality of candidates for coefficients transformable to linear predictive coefficients stored in a code book and the coefficients transformable to linear predictive coefficients are obtained by the linear predictive analysis.

Abstract: Disclosed is a phase-shifted square wave modulation technique for single-phase and three-phase IM2DC applications in HVDC/MVDC systems. A square wave based modulation waveform is applied to each cell of IM2DC and compared to the phase-shifted carrier waveforms to generate device gate signals. As a result, a higher equivalent switching frequency can be achieved, and square wave based arm and AC link waveforms will be generated. In addition, power flow of IM2DC can be controlled by a phase shift angle of the square modulation waveforms between HVS and LVS. The converter cell capacitors can be reduced in size because they are only required to smooth high switching frequency ripple components. In addition, lower TDR can be achieved due to the higher power transferring capability of square waves.

Abstract: The present invention provides a new therapeutic method for modeling neuronal responses. Human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) emerge recently as alternative sources of primary brain cells to establish Alzheimer's disease (AD) models in vitro. While previous investigations demonstrate the potential of hiPSCs in modeling AD, the 2-D cultures used in these studies cannot fully recapitulate AD-associated neuropathology. 3-D cortical spheroids (forebrain-like structure) were derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells in a bioreactor culture, which can be used to recapitulate AD-associated neuropathology, to screen the therapeutic drugs and to predict neurotoxicity.
