Abstract: The system uses natural language to paths of a transition diagram via answer set programming system and provides: an approach for mapping events described in natural language sources to a logical formalism; and integration of Natural Language Processing and constraint-based reasoning inspired by Reasoning about Actions and Change. The system further uses (a) a non-trivial variant of IR in which sources include sequences of events, and queries are made about the state of the world after such events; (b) the extension of techniques for representing dynamic domains to increase the flexibility of the reasoning processes in the presence of uncertainty; (c) a formalization of the IR task based on action languages; (d) an automated IR procedure based on Answer Set Programming (ASP).

Abstract: In the case of a OXC device having a route & select-type configuration of the conventional technique, when the port number is 20, then the entire device requires 120 WSSs having a 1×9 configuration. In the case of a route & select-type OXC device having ports more than 20 ports, a large amount of expensive WSSs is required. Thus, such a device is impractical from the viewpoint of cost. Thus, the expansion depending on an increase of traffic at nodes was impossible, flexible scalability could not be provided, and a reasonable network operation from the viewpoint of economy was difficult. According to the OXC device of this disclosure, regardless of the input port number and the output port number of the device, WSSs having a smaller scale than the conventional technique are used and the WSSs are internally-connected from a viewpoint different from that of the conventional technique, thus providing the device having a significantly-reduced cost.

Abstract: Vapor wake detection is a highly advantageous method and system for detecting explosives and other illicit substances. With vapor wake detection, a canine and a handler are used; however, unlike other detection schemes, the canine leads the handler. After the handler positions the canine in a desired location, the canine detects scents in the air that come to the canine. When the canine detects a trained scent, the canine leads the handler to or follows behind the carrier of the item with the scent. Once the carrier is identified by the handler, the proper personnel are contacted. To implement vapor wake detection effectively, specific rigorous training is utilized.

Abstract: A hybrid growth method for III-nitride tunnel junction devices uses metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) to grow one or more light-emitting or light-absorbing structures and ammonia-assisted or plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) to grow one or more tunnel junctions. Unlike p-type gallium nitride (p-GaN) grown by MOCVD, p-GaN grown by MBE is conductive as grown, which allows for its use in a tunnel junction. Moreover, the doping limits of MBE materials are higher than MOCVD materials. The tunnel junctions can be used to incorporate multiple active regions into a single device. In addition, n-type GaN (n-GaN) can be used as a current spreading layer on both sides of the device, eliminating the need for a transparent conductive oxide (TCO) layer or a silver (Au) mirror.
