  • Patent number: 9641183
Abstract: A programmable clock generator is provided which is particularly suitable for low power applications. The programmable clock generator is comprised of: an oscillator circuit that generates an output signal whose frequency is set by a control signal, two feedback loops for controlling output frequency and a loop select that selects which feedback loop is operational at a given time. In operation, the frequency loop operates to coarsely adjust the frequency of the output signal; whereas, the phase loop operates to finely adjust the frequency of the output signal. The clock generator is preferably implemented by transistors operating in or near the subthreshold region.

  • Patent number: 9639107
Abstract: A temperature insensitive sub-nA current reference is presented with pA-range power overhead. The main concept is to linearly reduce the gate voltage of a sub-threshold-biased MOSFET as temperature increases, in order to compensate for exponential dependence of drain current on temperature. For example, a MOSFET-only, 20 pA, 780 ppm/° C. current reference that consumes 23 pW is disclosed, marking the lowest reported power among current references. The circuit exploits sub-threshold-biased MOSFETs and a complementary-to-absolute temperature (CTAT) gate voltage to compensate for temperature dependency. The design shows high immunity to supply voltage of 0.58%/V and a load sensitivity of 0.25%/V.

  • Patent number: 9637781
Abstract: The present invention provides a PCR-free, multiplexed ligation assay for miRNA expression analysis that produces highly quantitative, 10-100 plex miRNA profiling in a single reaction. The inventive methods use a 2-step ligation assay to generate an array of miRNA specific ligation products that can be decoded and quantified by a size discrimination method such as gel electrophoresis or single molecule separation. One embodiment is a low-cost assay that can be performed using standard tools available in nearly all molecular biology laboratories. This assay requires nothing more than a gel apparatus and reader for detection. Other embodiments include use of magnetic beads and other size exclusion apparatus which give increasingly higher sensitivity, lower sample consumption, and reduced processing steps.

  • Patent number: 9640377
Abstract: This invention is related to a tandem mass spectrometric analysis method in ion trap mass analyzer. Such method comprise three stages as represented by selective isolation, collision induced disassociation and mass scanning of ion. At the collision induced isolation stage, this invention is expected to endow parent ion of certain mass-charge ratio with energy through resonance excitation by changing cycle of radio frequency signals, namely frequency of radio frequency voltage imposed on the ion trap; such high-energy ions produced through resonance excitation are to be disassociated through collision with neutral molecules in the ion trap, which will further generate product ion to realize tandem mass spectrometric analysis.

  • Patent number: 9637554
Abstract: Receptor protein kinases (RPTKs) transmit extracellular signals across the plasma membrane to cytosolic proteins, stimulating formation of complexes that regulate key cellular functions. Over half of the known tyrosine kinases are implicated in human cancers and are therefore highly promising drug targets. A large-scale loss-of-function analysis of tyrosine kinases using RNA interference in the clinically relevant Erb-B2 positive, BT474 breast cancer cell line showed that Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK), a cytosolic, non-receptor tyrosine kinase that has been extensively studied for its role in B cell development, is required, in altered form, for BT474 breast cancer survival. This alternative form contains an amino-terminal extension that is also present in tumorigenic breast cells at significantly higher levels than in normal breast cells.
