Abstract: A method of creating “bioink” has been proposed, which increases the shelf-life and transportability of biological materials for use in bioprinting applications. The current invention also contemplates a composition of biomaterials admixed with trehalose to dehydrate the biomaterials for preservation and transportation. The dehydrated biomaterials can then be rehydrated for use in bioprinting.

Abstract: A method for performing high dynamic range optical image detection of a scene. The method comprises imaging incident light from a scene onto an object plane of an Optical Array Device, the OAD operating in time modulation mode; determining the locations of those pixels in the object plane of a first light level; detecting the optical irradiance values of those pixels of the first light level to produce a first detected image; detecting the optical irradiance values of those pixels of a second light level to produce a second detected image; and generating a high dynamic range optical irradiance map of the scene by combining the first detected image and the second detected image into a single image.

Abstract: Asymmetric bifunctional silyl (ABS) monomers comprising covalently linked pharmaceutical, chemical and biological agents are described. These agents can also be covalently bound via the silyl group to delivery vehicles for delivering the agents to desired targets or areas. Also described are delivery vehicles which contain ABS monomers comprising covalently linked agents and to vehicles that are covalently linked to the ABS monomers. The silyl modifications described herein can modify properties of the agents and vehicles, thereby providing desired solubility, stability, hydrophobicity and targeting.

Abstract: A photodetector includes an active layer formed of an inorganic/organic hybrid perovskite material, such as organometal halide perovskites. The perovskite hybrid photodetector provides low dark-current densities and high external-quantum efficiencies, resulting in a photodetector with enhanced photoresponsivity and detectivity. Advantageously, the perovskite hybrid photodetector may be prepared by solution processing, and is compatible with large-scale manufacturing techniques.

Abstract: A manufacturing method for a high-temperature-resistant metal-packaged fiber Bragg grating sensor includes using a regenerated fiber Bragg grating obtained via high-temperature annealing as a sensitive element so that the grating will not be erased when used at high temperature. The method also includes using a magnetron sputtering method which makes an optical fiber and metal combine better to form on the surface of the optical fiber an adhesive layer and a conductive layer, thereby causing little damage to optical fiber because of the absence of the processes of coarsening, sensitization, etc. of electroless plating and the fact that the method is performed in an anhydrous environment. After magnetron sputtering, the method includes using an electroplating method to thicken and deposit a protective layer, and embedding the optical fiber in a flexible-structure metallic substrate through the electroplating method to achieve the all-metal package.
