  • Patent number: 8806410
Abstract: Power balancing techniques are provided for improving power efficiency of pipelined processors. A design-level implementation can be incorporated during synthesis of pipeline clocks in which a register transfer level (RTL) code, operating frequency, and available voltage domains are used to perform cycle time stealing with, and optimize for, power efficiency. A test-level implementation can be incorporated during testing of a chip in which delay and power measurements are used to perform calculations based on cycle time stealing and optimization of power efficiency. The calculations are then used to perform voltage scaling and/or adjust tunable delay buffers. Process variations may also be corrected during test time. A run-time approach can be incorporated for dynamic power balancing in which the operating system keeps track of one or more performance indicators such as a count of floating point instructions and uses a look-up table to provide the appropriate delays.

  • Patent number: 8804952
Abstract: The system and method for securing scalar multiplication against differential power attacks (DPAs) delays required point additions in elliptic curve cryptosystem scalar multiplication. A buffer is used to store the points that will be added later in a random manner. Then, a randomly selected one of the stored points in the buffer is added to the accumulation point, or several randomly selected points are added consecutively. This makes the power trace appear as a repeated sequence of consecutive point doubling followed by consecutive point additions, which makes it very difficult for an attacker to know the exact value of the inspected bit during the scalar multiplication process.

  • Patent number: 8802643
Abstract: A method of treating cancerous tumors is presented herein. The method includes injecting an effective dose of a plasmid encoded for IL-12, B7-1 or IL-15 into a cancerous tumor and subsequently administering at least one high voltage, short duration pulse to the tumor. The electroporation pulses may be administered at least 700V/cm for a duration of less than 1 millisecond. The intratumor treatments with electroporation may be administered in at least a two-treatment protocol with the time between treatments being about 7 days. The intratumor treatments with electroporation may be administered in a three-treatment protocol with a time of four days between the first and second treatments and a time of three days between the second and third treatments. It was found that the intratumor treatments using electroporation not only resulted in tumor regression but also induced an immune memory response which prevented the formation of new tumors.

  • Patent number: 8804811
Abstract: The method for compressive sensing (CS) and reconstruction of ultra-wideband (UWB) channels includes building four practically-based dictionaries related to the antenna angles of transmission and angles of arrival that enhance the sparsity of UWB signals. The dictionaries account for the practical effects of the channel, such as pulse dispersion and the unavoidable effects of the antenna. Utilizing the practically-based dictionaries CS is able to reconstruct the UWB signals more efficiently with reasonable complexity. In addition to waveform reconstruction, the dictionaries are used for channel estimation. The CS method can be used with either a single-shot full profile correlator or a Rake receiver. The Rake receiver employs CS in adjusting its parameters to take advantage of the energy available in the strongest propagation paths.
