Abstract: Disclosed are peptides having a cystine knot structural motif and comprising a sequence engineered for specificity against ?IIb?3 integrin, found on platelets, and a method of using the same in anti-thrombotic therapies. The present peptides utilize a cystine knot scaffold derived from modified agouti-related protein or agatoxin, An alternate library screening strategy was used to isolate variants of peptides that selectively bound to ?IIb?3 integrin or to both ?IIb?3 and ?V?3 integrins. Unique consensus sequences were identified within the identified peptides suggesting alternative molecular recognition events that dictate different integrin binding specificities. In addition, the engineered peptides prevented human platelet aggregation in a plasma-based assay and showed high binding affinity for ?IIb?3 integrin.

Abstract: In general, a computer-implemented method is described for receiving one or more requests to generate a medical study, retrieving from one or more data repositories one or more medical study instruments, receiving a selection of a particular medical study instrument to use in the medical study, generating by one or more computers a list of one or more research collaborators invited to review the medical study, and generating by one or more computers a list of one of more participants invited to join the medical study. Additionally, the computer-implemented method generates by one or more computer systems a data filter to format medical data from a first data format to a second data format, wherein the second data format complies with a third data format associated with one or more medical study instruments.
Abstract: The invention relates to a periodic signal processing method, a periodic signal conversion method, and a periodic signal processing device capable of reducing the influence of periodicity without using a spectral model. Time windows are arranged such that a center of each of the time windows is at a division position which divides a fundamental frequency in a temporal direction into fractions 1/n (where n is an integer equal to or larger than 2) so as to extract a plurality of portions of different ranges from a signal having periodicity. A power spectrum for the plurality of portions extracted by the respective time windows is calculated, and the calculated power spectrum is added with a same ratio.
Abstract: Disclosed is a fluid sampling device comprising a plurality of inlet channels, each of which is arranged to receive an airflow from an associated direction, such that a sampling medium associated with a particular inlet channel is exposed to airflow from the associated direction.

Abstract: The present invention provided a method for salting-out extraction of acetone and butanol from a fermentation broth, characterized in that one type, or two or more types of salts and one type, or two or more types of extractants are added to an acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) fermentation broth, in which the salt saturation achieves 10%˜100%; and the volume ratio of the fermentation broth containing salts to the extractants is 1:0.1˜1:5. The mixture is allowed to stand until phase separation is formed. The top phase is a solvent phase or extraction phase enriched with acetone and butanol whereas the bottom phase is a salt-enriched phase or raffinate phase. This method involves many advantages, such as the simplified operation procedure, accelerated separation process and low separation cost, and therefore becomes a promising method of separating acetone and butanol in industrial application.
