Abstract: A system and method used to configure a smart device to command functional operations of a target appliance. The smart device retrieves from a controllable appliance, such as a settop box, data indicative of a codeset identity of the target appliance wherein the codeset identity was determined during a process used to configure a conventional universal remote control to command functional operations of the target appliance and wherein the process used to configure the conventional universal remote control is performed in cooperation with the controllable appliance. A remote control application resident on the smart device then uses the data indicative of the codeset identity retrieved from the controllable appliance to also configure the smart device to command functional operations of the target appliance.

Abstract: A substituted polyaniline whose self-doped state can be controlled via complexation between boronic acid groups along the backbone with D-fructose in the presence of fluoride is described. For the first time, this allows the formation of a water-soluble, self-doped conducting polymer under the polymerization conditions. In turn this facilitates the growth of polyaniline over a wider pH range.

Abstract: Methods for modification of tissue using covalent chemistry. Tissue can be modified through direct alkylation, reduction followed by alkylation, or oxidation followed by condensation to covalently attach small organic molecules or appropriately modified proteins. The modification can be spatially limited to desired regions of the tissue surface.
Abstract: The present invention is related to a front-end circuit for an optical communication system including a laser module arranged for transmitting bursts of data signals over an optical network and a driving circuit for providing the bursts of data signals to the laser module. The front-end circuit further includes receiver means in connection with said laser module and arranged for receiving from the optical network optical echo signals. The laser module includes a laser diode arranged for transmitting the bursts of data signals. The driving circuit is arranged for setting a disabling signal for stopping the laser diode from transmitting bursts of the data signals. Fiber-related information can be extracted from the echo signals, such as distance-resolved optical fiber reflections and fiber attenuation.
Abstract: A data driver capable of displaying images with a substantially uniform brightness, an organic light emitting display device using the same, and a method of driving the organic light emitting display device. The data driver includes a plurality of current sink units for controlling predetermined currents to flow through data lines, a plurality of voltage generators for resetting values of gray scale voltages using compensation voltages generated when the predetermined currents flow, a plurality of digital-to-analog converters for selecting one gray scale voltage among the gray scale voltages as a data signal in response to bit values of the data supplied from the outside, and a plurality of switching units for supplying the data signal to the data lines. The predetermined currents may be set equal to pixel currents that correspond to a maximum brightness.
Abstract: An estimation method applies to evaluating a system reliability of a cloud computing network, and the steps thereof includes: providing a network model which sends data through at least two path between a cloud and a client; inputting a demand, a time constraint and a maintenance budget into the network model; providing plural capacity vectors corresponding to different states of the flow of the cloud computing network; selecting a first set of vectors from the capacity vectors for satisfying the demand and the time constraint; deleting the capacity vectors which do not meet the maintenance budget from the first set of vectors to form a second set of vectors; and computing an upper boundary of the system reliability based on the first set of vectors and an lower boundary of the system reliability based on the second set of vectors.

Abstract: A method for a multi microphone noise reduction in a complex noisy environment is proposed. A left and a right noise power spectral density for a left and a right noise input frame is estimated for computing a diffuse noise gain. A target speech power spectral density is extracted from the noise input frame. A directional noise gain is calculated from the target speech power spectral density and the noise power spectral density. The noisy input frame is filtered by Kalman filtering method. A Kalman based gain is generated from the Kalman filtered noisy frame and the noise power spectral density. A spectral enhancement gain is computed by combining the diffuse noise gain, the directional noise gain, and the Kalman based gain. The method reduces different combinations of diverse background noise and increases speech intelligibility, while guaranteeing to preserve the interaural cues of the target speech and directional background noises.
Abstract: Provided is a handover method of a wireless communication system using a hierarchical cellular scheme. In the method, signal quality of a serving node is measured, so that whether to start scanning for a handover is determined. When the scanning for the handover starts, signal qualities of a serving cell including the serving node and one or more neighbor cells are measured through a first preamble including a first identifier for distinguishing a cell. An intra-cell handover or an inter-cell handover is selected using the signal qualities of the serving cell and the neighbor cells. Therefore, a terminal can easily distinguish between the inter-cell handover and the intra-cell handover, and an overhead during a handover can be reduced because an intra-cell handover procedure is simplified.

Abstract: [Object] An object of the present invention is to provide a sweet taste receptor-expressing construct which can functionally stably express both of a sweet taste receptor (T1R2+T1R3) and a G protein ? subunit at a high expression efficacy, and a stable expression cell body expressing the construct. [Solution] The sweet taste receptor-expressing construct of the present invention is such that respective genes encoding sweet taste receptor subunits T1R2 and T1R3, and a G protein ? subunit are inserted into the same plasmid. The cell body of the present invention is such that the sweet taste receptor-expressing construct of the present invention is gene-introduced into a 293 cell in which an FRT (Flippase Recognition Target) sequence is incorporated into one place in a genome, to express sweet taste receptor subunits T1R2 and T1R3, and a G protein ? subunit simultaneously.

Abstract: This invention discloses monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) which have little or no signaling activity as monomers become potent anti-tumor agents when they are converted into homoconjugates. The homoconjugates exert anti-growth activity by signaling G0/G1 arrest or apoptosis, depending upon which cell surface molecule they bind. This activity is specific and does not require an Fc portion. These conjugates are potent, anti-tumor agents.
