Abstract: A displacement and velocity based prospective cine CT (PDV CT) method is disclosed for starting image acquisition if the displacement and velocity are simultaneously within predetermined tolerances, thus essentially sorting 2D CT images in a five dimensional parameter space, where displacement and the sign of the velocity are used for the temporal sorting, replacing the use of either phase or displacement as the temporal parameter during retrospective sorting, with velocity as a separate parameter correlating to some parameter of the system, e.g. the airflow rate, making it possible to do the image sorting in real-time.
Abstract: The present disclosure includes a method for preparing an aqueous dispersion of ?-Fe2O3 nanoparticles. The method includes grinding an iron (II) hydrated salt, an iron (III) hydrated salt, an inorganic salt, and alkali hydroxide in a grinding or milling machine. The inorganic salt may be a salt matrix that prevents growth and aggregation of the synthesized nanoparticles. Abstract: A method is provided for improving quality of cheese produced from a milk batch. A light beam from an incident light source impinges onto a surface of the milk batch, and light backscatter is optically detected during a coagulation process and correlated to an optimum cutting time for the milk coagulum. Next, light backscattered from a curd and whey mixture derived from the milk batch during a syneresis process is optically detected and correlated to an optimum syneresis endpoint. At least one of the backscattered light data, optical parameters developed from analysis of the backscattered light data, and whey fat dilution are correlated to at least one of a milk protein %, a milk fat %, a milk total solids content, a milk processing temperature, a curd moisture content, a curd moisture change over time, whey fat content, a whey fat loss, and a final curd yield.

Abstract: A new class of fluorinated or polyhalogenated triazepentadienes are disclosed. The synthesized triazapentadienes are thermally stable, soluble in typical solvents and have several metal binding sites for complexation with metal ions. The compounds are prepared as colorless crystalline solids. Synthesis takes advantage of a reaction with triethylamine. Synthesized triazapentadienes (with and without complexed metals) inhibit bacterial growth of both Gram positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Abstract: To provide a coating material for a curable solvent-based topcoating material, having excellent marring resistance, chipping resistance, producing no crack and excellent in performances such as weatherability, stain resistance, adhesion and the like, and a curable solvent-type topcoating material using such a material. A coating material is blended preferably in an amount of 60 to 90% by mass relative to paint film forming components thereby to form a curable solvent-based topcoating material. The coating material includes an oleophilic polyrotaxane which includes a cyclic molecule, a linear molecule including the cyclic molecule with piercing through the cyclic molecule, and blocking groups which are placed at both end terminals of the linear molecule to prevent the cyclic molecule from leaving from the linear molecule, at least one of the above-mentioned liner molecule and the cyclic molecule having hydrophobic modification group.

Abstract: Devices, apparatus, systems and methods of attaching storm panels over window and door openings with end fastenable H tracks. Each of the tracks can have H cross-sectional shapes with elongated opposite facing C shaped channels back to back along the elongated tracks. At the upper and lower ends of the tracks can be outwardly protruding tabs having through-holes for allowing the tracks to mounted into frame edges about the window and door openings. Rectangular shutter panels such as plywood, metal and plastic sheeting can have side edges that slidably fit into the C channel openings of the H tracks so that the only fasteners to attach the panels over the building openings are through the track tabs. Stop flanges can prevent the panels from sliding out of the channels. The track, brackets can be mounted horizontal and parallel to one another as well as be mounted vertically and parallel to one another.

Abstract: The subject invention pertains to a piezoelectric device structure for improved acoustic wave sensing and/or generation, and process for making same. The piezoelectric thin film field effect transducer can be a thin film transistor (TFT) with either a piezoelectric film gate or a composite gate having a dielectric film and a piezoelectric film. The TFT structure can be either a top gate device or a bottom gate device. In an embodiment, the piezoelectric device structure can be used to form an array of piezoelectric thin film field effect transducers. A TFT switch can drive each piezoelectric transducer in the array. The piezoelectric transducers can both generate and sense acoustic waves. In a sensing mode, a signal from an acoustic wave can be collected at a readout terminal of the piezoelectric transducer. In a generating mode, an excitation signal can be applied across the piezoelectric transducer while the switch is ‘on’.

Abstract: A wristwatch worn by a user for measuring a three-lead ECG includes three electrodes placed separately on the front, either side, and back or strap thereof. The wristwatch further includes an electrode panel having the electrode on the front or either side of the watch, sensing elements, pressure, infrared or impedance detectors, and circuits. The electrode panel is capable of sensing the contact or press of fingers to trigger the ECG measuring. While the electrode in the back-side of the watch contacts the hand wearing the watch, the electrode and electrode panel on the front or either side of the watch are pressed by fingers from the other hand, and the electrode in the strap contacts the abdomen or left leg simultaneously. Thus, a three-lead ECG can be measured. ECG data can be transmitted to a personal or hospital computer by wireless networks or flash memory.
