Abstract: A vertical organic light emitting transistor assembly and a horizontal organic light emitting transistor assembly are provided. The vertical organic light emitting transistor assembly comprises a first/second vertical transistor and a first/second organic light emitting diode perpendicularly integrated with the first/second vertical transistor, respectively. The horizontal organic light emitting transistor assembly comprises a substrate, a third vertical transistor and a third organic light emitting diode. The third vertical transistor and the third organic light emitting diode are arranged abreast on the substrate. By integrating the organic light emitting diode and the vertical transistor into a unitary electronic element, the vertical transistor can efficiently drive the organic light emitting diode so that the organic light emitting transistor assembly can overcome limitations caused by existing manufacturing processes and adapt to extensive applications.

Abstract: A computer network packet classification method and system based on a nonoverlapping rule group encoding scheme is proposed, which is designed for integration to a network system for classification of packets within the network system. The proposed method and system is characterized by the use of a nonoverlapping rule group encoding scheme which organizes a database of rules into nonoverlapping rule groups and creates a number of consecutive projected intervals over the dimension of each classification-related field of the packet header, whereby a projected-interval to encoded-bit-vector lookup table and an encoded-bit-vector to rule-group lookup table can be established. During the operation of packet classification, these two lookup tables are used to find the corresponding rule for each incoming packet. This scheme allows the encoded bit vectors to have a reduced bit length, and therefore allows the packet classification to be implemented with low memory requirement and enhanced performance.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for determining a pilot pattern in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communication system are provided. In the pilot pattern determining method, an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) demodulator generates frequency-domain data by fast-Fourier-transform (FFT)-processing a received signal. A pilot pattern decider calculates a coherence bandwidth and a coherence time using subcarrier values received from the OFDM demodulator, and selects one of a plurality of pilot patterns according to the ratio of the coherence bandwidth to the coherence time.

Abstract: A method of bonding an antimicrobial cationic polyelectrolyte to the surface of a substrate is described, wherein the antimicrobial thus attached to the substrate provides the substrate with antimicrobial properties, and at least a portion of the bonded antimicrobial is substantially non-leachable during normal conditions of use and storage. A method of manufacturing an antimicrobial material is described which comprises exposure of the substrate to a solution of antimicrobial cationic polyelectrolyte, followed by drying the exposed substrate thoroughly to impart a non-leaching property to at least a portion of the antimicrobial cationic polyelectrolytes.

Abstract: An electrochemical cell that receives an inlet stream of air and produces an outlet stream of a high oxygen concentration of gas. The cell is made up of a plurality of layers and preferably a porous electrolyte comprised of yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) that allows only oxygen ions to pass therethrough and which is covered on its sides with electrodes comprised of lanthanum strontium manganate (LSM) which in turn are coated with a layer of platinum to aid in the even distribution of the electrical current. An electrical current is passed through the electrodes to produce a voltage difference therebetween. The layers of YSZ and LSM are formed by a sol-gel process.

Abstract: To use the memory space more effectively, cell memory can be shared by an input link and all output links. To prevent one flow from occupying the entire memory space, a threshold may be provided for the queue. The queue threshold may accommodate the RTT delay of the link. Queue length information about a downstream switch module may be sent to an upstream switch module via cell headers in every credit update period per link. Cell and/or credit loss may be recovered from. Increasing the credit update period reduces the cell header bandwidth but doesn't degrade performance significantly. Sending a credit per link simplifies implementation and eliminates interference between other links.

A method of aligning a patient for delivering a plurality of radiation beams from a plurality of device positions comprising compensating for flexion of a radiation beam delivery device within a gantry during movement of the radiation beam delivery device from a first device position to a second device position by using a set of predetermined data describing the flexion behavior of the radiation beam delivery device so that the target tissue within the patient is placed at the beamline center for the radiation beam delivery device at the second device position.
Abstract: Methods and systems for measuring charges deposited on resistive and/or pixilated electrodes are described. The system includes a Time-of-Flight (TOF) detector with precise timing information provided by a discriminator implemented as a combination of a leading edge discriminator and a constant fraction discriminator. The discriminator initiates acquisition of the peak amplitude for accurate TOF measurements substantially independent of the signal amplitude at the input of the discriminator. The disclosed charge detection electronics has applications for space-based experiments.
Abstract: The invention is a computer implemented technique for id entifying anomalous data in a data set. The method uses cascaded k-Means clustering and the ID3 decision tree learning methods to characterize a training data set having data points with known characterization. The k-Means clustering method first partitions the training instances into k clusters using Euclidean distance similarity. On each training cluster, representing a density region of normal or anomaly instances, the invention builds an ID3 decision tree. The decision tree on each cluster refines the decision boundaries by learning the sub-groups within the cluster. A test data point is then subjected to the clustering and decision trees constructed form the training instances. To obtain a final decision on classification, the decisions of the k-Means and ID3 methods are combined using rules: (1) the Nearest-neighbor rule, and (2) the Nearest-consensus rule.

Abstract: The method and system for vehicular guidance comprises an imaging device for collecting color image data to facilitate distinguishing crop image data (e.g., crop rows) from background data. A definer defines a series of scan line segments generally perpendicular to a transverse axis of the vehicle or of the imaging device. An intensity evaluator determines scan line intensity data for each of the scan line segments. An alignment detector (e.g., search engine) identifies a preferential heading of the vehicle that is generally aligned with respect to a crop feature, associated with the crop image data, based on the determined scan line intensity meeting or exceeding a maximum value or minimum threshold value.
