Abstract: A detector device for detecting incident radiation at particular wavelengths is disclosed. The device includes a base layer comprising a substrate. A resonant cavity is formed on the base layer between a pair of reflectors. One reflector is formed by a first reflector layer disposed in fixed relationship with respect to the base layer and the other reflector is formed by a second reflector layer disposed on a membrane in substantially parallel relationship to the substrate. A detector is provided within the cavity to absorb incident radiation therein for detection purposes. By placing the absorbing layer of the detector within the resonant cavity, high quantum efficiency can be achieved using very thin absorbing layers, thus significantly reducing the detector volume and hence noise. Various different arrangements of the detector device and different methods of fabricating the same are also disclosed.

Abstract: A power-diode driver uses a single power source to supply power to the sub-drivers inside. The sub-drivers are well isolated so that they can be safely and easily expanded by connecting to other device or driver. Thus, the power-diode driver has a changeable turn-on time and a highly modulated assembly. And, hence, the present invention is suitable for mass producing reliable power-diode drivers.
Abstract: ?-lactamases are the most widespread resistance mechanism to ?-lactam antibiotics, such as penicillins and cephalosporins. In response to these enzymes, inhibitors have been introduced. Unfortunately, these inhibitors are also ?-lactams, and resistance to them has developed rapidly. Consequently, the present invention provides a novel structure-based approach to inhibitors of these enzymes.

Abstract: A dual broadband dipole array antenna has a grounding structure, a circuit module and two feeding boards. The grounding structure is a conductive hexagonal container with two open ends and has two opposite parallel panels. The circuit module is a transmitting antenna module, is phase reversible and has two feeding wires. The feeding wires of the circuit module are respectively mounted centrally through the parallel panels and each feeding wire is electrically connected to the corresponding feeding board. When in use, the dual broadband dipole array antenna transmits signals covering EGSM900 (880-960 MHz), GSM1800 (1710-1880 MHz) and PCS (1820-1970 MHz).
Abstract: The present invention relates to an SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier) for the ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection comprising two terminal electrodes of a first electrode and a second electrode, a PMOS, an NMOS and an SCR structure. By utilizing an embedded SCR, a whole-chip ESD protection circuit design can be obtained. The present invention is suitable for IC products, and for applications by IC design industries and IC foundry industries.

Abstract: A wireless communication device using a single spiral inductor antenna and a signal receiving/transmitting method thereof operated on multi-band are provided. The single spiral inductor antenna is designed to have a plurality of different inductance paths. Different inductance values are inducted with signal paths switched by a plurality of switches so as to meet the requirements of multi-band operation. As the circuit structure of the single spiral inductor antenna is used, the circuit area is reduced effectively.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for accurately retrieving the position of an optical feature. The method uses the optical properties of biaxial crystals to conically refract the optical feature and transform the image of the optical feature to a circular ring structure. The position of the optical feature is then calculated by locating a center point associated with the circular ring structure.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a methodology for the isolation, purification and identification of peptide ligands presented by MHC positive cells. In particular, the methodology of the present invention relates to the isolation, purification and identification of these peptide ligands from soluble class I and class II MHC molecules which may be uninfected, infected, or tumorgenic. The methodology of the present invention broadly allows for these peptide ligands and their comcomittant source proteins thereof to be identified and used as markers for infected versus uninfected cells and/or tumorgenic versus nontumorgenic cells with said identification being useful for marking or targeting a cell for therapeutic treatment or priming the immune response against infected cells.

Abstract: A DRAM command scheduling algorithm is presented that is designed to alleviate various constraints imposed upon high performance, high datarate, short channel DDRx SDRAM memory systems. The algorithm amortizes the overhead costs of rank-switching time and schedules around the tFAW bank activation constraint. A multi-rank DDRx memory system is also presented having at least two ranks of memory each having a number of banks and at least one memory controller configured for performing the hardware-implemented step of DRAM command scheduling for row access commands and column access commands. The step of command scheduling includes decoupling the row access commands from the column access commands; alternatively scheduling the decoupled row access commands to different ranks of memory; and group scheduling the decoupled column access commands to each bank of the number of banks of a given rank of the different ranks of memory.
Abstract: A computer assisted detecting and restraining system for cutting tool chatter. The system comprises a network monitor system, a signal extraction system, a chatter detection system, and a chatter restraint system. The network monitor system monitors a machine tool and receives audio caused during a cutting process. The signal extraction system extracts vibration displacement signals generated during the cutting process converts the vibration displacement signals to digital signals and transfers the digitalized signals. The chatter detection system receives the digitalized vibration displacement signals and sends a control command when the signals are high frequency signals. The chatter restraint system receives the control command and adjusts rotation rates of a spindle of the machine tool accordingly.

Abstract: The system for delivery of insecticide provides a portable enclosure for delivering insecticide to an infested tree trunk. The system includes an annular shell disposed around with the trunk of the tree that defines an annular tank. An annular base supports the wall(s) of the annular shell and has a liquid impermeable membrane attached thereto that can be wrapped around the base of the tree trunk to prevent pesticide seepage into the ground. A pump delivers insecticide into the annular tank at an upper end of the tank. A drain hose attached to the base of the tank returns insecticide to the pump for recirculation. The pump is actuated in pulsating mode to agitate insecticide in the tank, causing waves of sufficient pressure to induce the insecticide to penetrate deeply through any bores in the trunk to kill both adult insects and larvae.
