Abstract: A camera of a ground-based information dispatch apparatus captures a blind-spot image, showing a region that is a blind spot with respect to a vehicle driver. A vehicle-mounted camera captures a forward-view image corresponding to the viewpoint of the driver, and the forward-view image is transmitted to the information dispatch apparatus together with vehicle position and direction information and camera parameters. Based on the received information, the blind-spot image is converted to a corresponding image having the viewpoint of the vehicle driver, and the forward-view image and viewpoint-converted blind-spot image are combined to form a synthesized image, which is transmitted to the vehicle.

Abstract: Objective methods for detecting and diagnosing breast cancer (BRC) are described herein. Also described are methods of treating and preventing breast cancer and breast cancer metastasis as well as methods of assessing the prognosis of a breast cancer subject and the efficacy of a breast cancer therapy. In one embodiment, the diagnostic method involves determining the expression level of ZNFN3A1, a gene whose expression is markedly elevated in breast cancers, that therefore can be used to discriminate between BRC cells and normal cells. The present invention further provides methods of screening for therapeutic agents useful in the treatment of BRC, methods of treating BRC and method for vaccinating a subject against BRC.

Abstract: The present invention provides for a static charge generating assembly. The static charge generating assembly is comprised of: (a) a support structure built from a plurality of friction fit building elements; (b) positive and negative static charge generating wheels; (c) a belt wrapped around the static charge generating wheels; (d) a power source electrically coupled to a driving means for rotating at least one of the static charge generating wheels and the belt at a preselected rotational speed; and (e) positive and negative electrodes secured to the support structure adjacent to the belt. Each of the electrodes is mounted on at least one of the friction fit building elements positioned adjacent to a static charge generating wheel operable to collect static charge. Separate positive and negative static charge collectors are used for storing the negative and positive static charges from the electrodes.

Abstract: Disclosed are a sensor interface device and an amplifier used in a sensor system. The sensor interface device in one implementation has a first chopper configured to shift input signals of the sensor system from a baseband frequency to a first frequency, an instrumentation amplifier configured to amplify the shifted signals, a bandpass Delta-Sigma modulator configured to digitize the amplified signals, and a second chopper configured to shift the digitized signals from the a first frequency back to the baseband frequency. The instrumentation amplifier removes the DC offset generated from the first chopper and therefore all sources of DC offset are eliminated in this interface device without bandwidth limitation.
Abstract: An electrical energy storage device (20,70) includes a substrate (22), which is formed so as to define a multiplicity of micro-containers separated by electrically-insulating and ion-conducting walls (32). A first plurality of anodes (A) is disposed in a first subset (24) of the micro-containers, and a second plurality of cathodes (C) is disposed in a second subset (26) of the micro-containers. The anodes and cathodes are arranged in an interlaced pattern.

Abstract: The invention is to provide a navigating method and system for drilling operation in spinal surgery. The method and system is applied to the subjects who receive pedicle insertion operation in spinal surgery. The specific vertebras are under radiography using X-ray machine at both anterior/posterior and lateral views. These imaging are then transmitted into a computer system for image distortion correction and registration. By drawing the safety regions of the pedicle on the indicated vertebra in both AP and Lat. images, three-dimensional safety volumes of the pedicle of the vertebra are developed by intersection operation. Therefore, prior to and during the clinical spine operation, surgeons are able to safe navigation by referring the referential orientation via the developed system.

Abstract: In one embodiment of the present disclosure, a process for cyclic dehydrogenation and rehydrogenation of hydrogen storage materials is provided. The process includes liberating hydrogen from a hydrogen storage material comprising hydrogen atoms chemically bonded to one or more elements to form a dehydrogenated material and contacting the dehydrogenated material with a solvent in the presence of hydrogen gas such that the solvent forms a reversible complex with rehydrogenated product of the dehydrogenated material wherein the dehydrogenated material is rehydrogenated to form a solid material containing hydrogen atoms chemically bonded to one or more elements.
