Abstract: A media content distribution system for distributed multimedia streaming communicates over a network and incorporates multiple independent media stations, each having a media director for control and a number of media engines for storage, retrieval and streaming of media content. A content request from a media console connected to the network is redirected by the media director to a selected one of the media engines storing content corresponding to the request for streaming. Statistical indicators are defined for measuring effectiveness of the content distribution network. Push and pull indicators with additional differentiation for remote and local access to pulled content provide means for efficiency determination of data distribution and storage. A middleware Application Programming Interface (API) structure is provided for flexible interfacing between media consoles and content distribution system components.
Abstract: A system and methods are shown for providing Internet Protocol communication services to a mobile client. One method includes sending a registration request from a radio node to a control node responsive to detecting a mobile client in a service area of the radio node. When the control node receives the request from the radio node, the control node determines a foreign agent to provide communication services to the mobile client. In one embodiment, the control node determines the foreign agent based on a mobile client information record, a radio node record, and a plurality of foreign agent records associated with the radio node. In one embodiment, the control node may select a last serving foreign agent associated with the mobile client.
Abstract: A method and system for enabling a first communication device to communicate with a second communication device. The first communication device is in a first network. The second communication device is in a second network. The second communication device has network connectivity only in its home network. When a first call for the second communication device is received from the first communication device, roaming on the second communication device is enabled and the location of the second communication device is determined. After determining the location of the second communication device, the first call is routed to the second communication device.
Abstract: An enclosure has a set of panels forming an outer peripheral skin. A heat exchanger wall is placed within the panels. A first fan arrangement circulates ambient air into a space within the panels and along the exterior surface of the heat exchanger wall and back into the environment. A second fan arrangement circulates air contained within the enclosure against the interior surface of the heat exchanger wall. Heat is transferred through the heat exchanger wall to the ambient air circulated by the first fan. An inner wall is placed adjacent to the interior surface of the heat exchanger wall. The space between the inner wall and the heat exchanger wall forms a space for the air within the interior of the enclosure to circulate by the second fan. The heat exchanger wall provides a barrier isolating the ambient air from the air within the enclosure, preventing dust, humidity and pollutants to enter into the interior of the cabinet in the space surrounding the electronic components.

Abstract: A network element (501) can determine (101) a substantially present need to support a communication for a communication system user (507) and receive (102), from a remote location (504), information regarding at least one call-specific logic operator to be employed when supporting the communication for the communication system user. Such information can assume a variety of forms depending upon the preferences and/or requirements of a given application setting but generally serve to dynamically provision the network element with one or more logic operators (as may relate, for example, to quality of service) that the network element is not otherwise pre-provisioned with.
Abstract: An Internet Protocol access gateway (200) characterized by having automatically and dynamically maintained end user profile information can receive (101) information (subsequent to otherwise authenticating an end user's ability to engage in a communication session) regarding content being sought by the end user via a communication session. That access gateway can then facilitate determination (102) regarding whether this end user is authorized to receive such content.
Abstract: A network element receives data intended for another destination and develops corresponding accounting information. This network element then process this accounting information with respect to at least one filter criterion as correlates to a target accounting information recipient to provide corresponding filtered accounting information. The network element then forwards this filtered accounting information to the target accounting information recipient.
Abstract: A base station receiver increases noise factor by introducing Pseudo-Noise (PN) signals when testing an effect of a cell size by a reverse virtual call in a CDMA2000-1x system. The receiver of the present invention comprises: a Front-End Unit (FEU), an Analog Down-Converter Card Assembly (ADCA), a Digital Down-Converter Card Assembly (DDCA) including an Analog/Digital Converter (ADC) and a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) for processing digital signals, and a Multi-Rate Channel Card Assembly (MCCA).
Abstract: A mobile switching center is configured with software instructions which allow it to continue to provide at least limited call termination and call origination services for mobile terminals in the event of a failure of a signaling link between the mobile switching center and a home location register and/or a signal control point (SCP) in an intelligent network. For pre-paid callers originating or terminating a call, the mobile switching center marks a call detail record as indicating that the call is a post-paid call. The call detail record is later provided to the SCP after the signaling link has been restored in order to bill the mobile terminal. In one example, the signaling link between the mobile switching center and the home location register or SCP may be a satellite link, which may go down for various reasons such as for maintenances, an unexpected failure, or the orbit of the satellite goes outside the field of reception of an antenna in the signal path.
Abstract: A locking member functions to lock a card with respect to a shelf having an end with a groove upon completing a card loading process into the shelf. The locking member is provided with (1) a connecting section joined to the card, (2) a resilient section extending from the connecting section and having resilience, and (3) an engagement section formed at an end of the resilient section and having a shape engagable into the groove. The locking member is also provided with an extension section extending from the engagement section. When the extension section is pressed, a position of the engagement section is lowered due to shrinkage of the resilient section.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for resource allocation and rate control of dedicated channels in a Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) communication system, the method being characterized by comprising: a) the step of determining channel states of downlink DCH channels for non-realtime data services; b) the step of determining states of the users using said downlink DCH channels; and the step of correlating the channel states determined in step a) with the user states determined in step b), and dynamically allocating the DCH channels with certain rates to the users in the different User states according to a wireless measurement result measured by a current transmission channel and based on the priority and fairness requirements. Abstract: A system for live TV transmission over IP networks incorporates a head end real-time encoding/transcoding server for converting live TV encoded data streams with root multicast relay servers receiving multicast data streams from the encoding/transcoding server. The multicast stream output is provided to a first set of relay servers through multicast capable routers and the root multicast servers provide unicast stream output to a second set of relay servers through unicast limited routers. The first and second sets of relay servers provide unicast and multicast stream output for child servers or local access networks.
Abstract: A system for live TV transmission over IP networks incorporates a content encoder receiving live TV broadcast and converting to RTP packets for multicast streaming. A streaming server receives the multicast RTP packets from the content encoder and converts the multicast stream to a unicast stream. The streaming server is also responsive to RTSP commands for trick mode operation. A settop box is connected through an IP network for receiving multicast RTP packets from the content encoder and generating RTSP commands for trick mode operation, the setup box issuing a leave multicast group signal upon issuing a trick mode command and receiving unicast transmission of RTP packets from the streaming server controllable by the trick mode commands.
