  • Patent number: 5014666
Abstract: A load adjustment device with which the power of an internal combustion engine can be controlled has a driver (4) which is coupled with an accelerator pedal (1). The driver cooperates via a control element with a setting member (throttle 9) which determines the power of the internal combustion engine. The control element has a first control-element part (8a) and second control-element part (8b) which can be decoupled from each other in order to be able to control the setting member (9) independently of the driver (4) via an electric setting drive (14). Within the second control-element part (8b) there is present, in accordance with the invention, a step-up transmission (torque converter 30a) for movement on the setting drive side, the torque converter being developed as a spiral.

  • Patent number: 5012788
Abstract: The present invention proposes a fuel-air mixture-forming device for internal combustion engines, having a rotationally symmetric nozzle body (2) which, together with a rotationally symmetric throttle body (8) displaceable in it, forms a convergent-divergent nozzle which discharges into a radial diffusor (6). In the vicinity of the narrowest cross section (5) of the nozzle there is provided a fuel slot (11) extending around it and discharging into it, at least one fuel feed line (9, 10) discharging into the fuel slot. The radial diffusor is formed by a region of the nozzle body which is curved outward in the direction of flow of the mixture and by a wall (15) of a structural member (17) which forms a structural unit (18) with an intake manifold (7) of the internal combustion engine, the wall (15) lying opposite the nozzle body and being rotationally symmetric to the longitudinal axis (1) of the throttle member and having a bulge (16) pointing toward the throttle member.

  • Patent number: 5005546
Abstract: A setting device is provided for a feed device, in particular the throttle valve of an internal combustion engine with idling speed control, in which the throttle valve is located in the intake manifold. The throttle valve is connected to a displacement rod and pretensioned by a return spring. A first, adjustable stop and a second, fixed stop are provided for an actuating lever of the throttle valve. The second, fixed stop limits the adjustment range of the first stop for a minimal opening of the throttle valve. An idle stop, which is preferably developed as single-piece lever, acts with the actuating lever. By cooperation of the idle stop lever with the two stops, there is assured, on the one hand, a control of the idle position of the throttle valve, in which case a minimal opening position is established, while, on the other hand, an idle position of the throttle valve with a somewhat larger opening than the minimal opening is assured in the event that the idle speed control fails or becomes defective.

  • Patent number: 4994799
Abstract: In a system for the electrical transmission of an angular position, in particular from a measurement instrument to an indicating instrument, in which a transmitter and a receiver each have a rotor and a stator which has multiple pairs of poles, an alternating voltage is fed to a winding of the rotor of the transmitter, and voltages induced in the windings of the stator of the transmitter are transmitted to the windings of the stator of the receiver. The winding of the rotor of the receiver is connected to a phase-sensitive rectifier to which the alternating voltage which is also transmitted can furthermore be fed. The output of the phase-sensitive rectifier is connected to a controller for a motor which is provided for driving the rotor of the receiver and the indicating instrument.

  • Patent number: 4980633
Abstract: A method for measuring a vehicle's own speed by the Doppler radar principle, in accordance with which microwaves of a transmission frequency are sent out by the vehicle, a part thereof being reflected back and mixed with the microwave signal at transmission frequency. In this way Doppler signals are produced which, after pulse formation, are evaluated as Doppler pulse signals by a frequency measurement in the time range plus direction-of-travel evaluation, so as to form digital Doppler signal values. For the determination of a mean Doppler period in each case, a median M(n-3) is continuously determined from a predetermined number of the last generated digital Doppler signal values of the sequence M(n-1), M(n-2), M(n-3), M(n-4), M(n-5).

  • Patent number: 4978865
Abstract: In a circuit for controlling a pulsating current through an inductor, particularly the coil of an electromagnetic valve, the inductor is connected in series with a semiconductor switch and in parallel with a free-running diode. Furthermore a desired-value voltage is fed to a controller the output of which is connected via a pulse-width modulator to a control input of the semiconductor switch. A current flows through the inductor and the semiconductor switch, during a state of conduction of the semiconductor switch, to be measured. The current measurement is gated, in response to pulse-width modulation at the controller, and is then integrated for improved measurement of the current.

  • Patent number: 4972816
Abstract: A device is described for determining and/or controlling the operating data of automotive vehicles, particularly for controlling the velocity of vehicles with internal combustion engines and electric transmission of the position of the gas pedal to an electric setting element which is connected to the throttle valve or the displacement device of the injection pump, the device having a measuring device for determining shunt resistances to the electric position transmitter which is connected to the gas pedal and the throttle valve. Such shunt resistances (leak resistances) detrimentally affect the desired precise relationship of the position of the gas pedal to the position of the throttle valve.

  • Patent number: 4972327
Abstract: In an apparatus for measuring the level of filling of a fuel tank of a motor vehicle in which a transmitter gives off a transmitter signal which is dependent on the level of filling of an electronic signal-processing unit, there is provided in an electronic signal-processing unit, in addition to a program for the evaluation of the transmitter signal and the control of an indicating device, also a further program. • Patent number: 4960091
Abstract: In a safety device for electronic velocity control or regulating systems for motor vehicles with idling regulation in which a desired value can be fed to a setting device for the power of the engine of a motor vehicle and in which the setting device comprises a setting controller, an output stage and a setting member, there is provided a switch device which prevents the regulating of the output stage in a direction towards an opening of the throttle valve as a function of an output signal of a comparator. • Patent number: 4955349
Abstract: In a fuel/air mixture preparation device for internal combustion engines, there is a nozzle body (2) of rotational symmetry having a throttle member (7) of rotational symmetry which is displaceable within the body, the body forming a convergent/divergent nozzle. With the throttle member (7), which is displaceable in the nozzle body, the main air-mass throughput through the nozzle is determined. At least one fuel feed line (8 and 9) enters into the nozzle body. The fuel feed line has a circumferential fuel slot (10) which is developed in the wall of the nozzle body as well as a circumferential fuel/air slot (12) which joins it and is open towards the inside in the nozzle body. At a transition place between the fuel slot and the fuel/air slot there debouches an air feed (13) which is approximately under ambient air pressure. From a gap opening (11) of the fuel/air slot, the fuel mixed with air is injected approximately transversely to the direction of the main air mass flow, into the inside of the nozzle body.
