  • Patent number: 4811754
Abstract: A fluid-flow control valve comprises a valve housing bounding a chamber and defining an inlet port for entry of fluid into the chamber and a control port for egress of fluid from the chamber. The control port is of reduced cross-sectional area relative to the chamber. The valve also comprises a valve closure member disposed in the chamber. The valve closure member is less dense than the fluid that the valve is to be used to control, so that when the chamber contains that fluid and the control port is above the closure member, the valve closure member is urged toward the control port so as to obstruct the control port. The closure member can be displaced away from the control port so as to allow fluid to flow through the control port.

  • Patent number: 4791879
Abstract: A coater for coating a running paper or cardboard web comprises a coating chamber having one side open against the web and means for filling the coating chamber with pressurized coating substance. The coating chamber is limited in the longitudinal direction of the web by a web entrance wall, and opposite thereof, a back wall in the form of a doctor member for forming a coating layer on the web. The distance between the walls is so short that, at normal web running speed, the web moves from the web entrance wall to the back wall in a time of at the most 0.3 s, preferably at the most 0.03 s. • Patent number: 4789109
Abstract: The invention relates to a web winding method and a winder for carrying out core replacement in a support drum winder. The core replacement is carried out with a sequence of measures, where the cutting of the web, removing of completed rolls (3) and placing of a new roll core between the support drums (1,2) is carried out by one single device comprising cutting, pushing and feeding means. The web (18) is held unmovably towards the trailing support drum (1) during the core replacement by means of a retainer device (16,17). For forwarding the removal of the rolls these are lifted by the same retainer device, if needed, to a height as required by the pusher device.

  • Patent number: 4746076
Abstract: In a winder device for winding a moving web, such as paper or cardboard web, to form a roll of considerable weight, the roll is carried by support members giving it peripheral support. The support members comprise a rotatable winder drum, transmitting the web to the roll, and a movable support web device. The support members are arranged to form the main support of the roll. The support web device includes a support web having a portion between two rotatable support elements and this support web portion has a roll supporting surface of contact with the roll. The surface of contact is continuously enlarged when said roll grows, in order to eliminate the risk of roll damages due to excess support pressure when winding heavy rolls.
