  • Patent number: 5794867
Abstract: At each work station of a textile machine producing wound bobbins, the yarn package on which yarn is wound is driven by a friction roller. In contrast to the conventional driving of the roller by a gear motor flanged to the housing of the work station, which has the disadvantage of requiring space and difficulty in removing and replacing the friction roller for maintenance, the present invention simplifies the friction roller drive by configuring the housing of the work station for the direct reception of the stator windings of the drive motor for the friction roller and mounting the friction roller and the rotor of the drive motor together on a continuous shaft.

  • Patent number: 5765353
Abstract: A pot spinning method and apparatus wherein a spinning pot rotates during spinning about a vertical axis while an associated yarn guide tube delivers fiber material through an exit mouth of the yarn guide tube onto the rotating inside surface of the spinning pot in the form of a revolving extent of the yarn which also rotates about the axis of the spinning pot. A yarn break or unacceptable changes in quality of the spun yarn can be ascertained extraordinarily quickly if deviations in the duration of the revolution of the yarn extent at the mouth of the yarn guide tube are monitored.

  • Patent number: 5738290
Abstract: An automatic package doffer of a textile winding machine includes a yarn engaging device and a travel limiting device. The yarn engaging device includes a pivot housing and a movably hinged yarn lifter head and is seated on a pivot and bearing shaft in a partially rotatable and axially displaceable disposition. • Patent number: 5735473
Abstract: A method for avoiding ribbon windings in the winding of a cross-wound bobbin or cheese includes driving the cheese with a drive drum having reversing thread grooves for yarn guidance. A circumferential speed of the drive drum is continuously varied. The cheese is accelerated with the drive drum so that the cheese follows a course of motion of the drive drum with slip. A rotary speed of a drive motor is monitored with a winding station computer. The drive drum is driven with the motor acting as a moment adjuster in terms of control technology. A command value specification of a current is fed to a current regulator through the winding station computer for accelerating the drive drum with a constant preselectable moment and for braking the drive drum with another constant preselectable moment, for generating the slip between the cheese and the drive drum being varied for preventing a match in a rotary speed ratio between the drive drum and the cheese that causes ribbon windings.

  • Patent number: 5729868
Abstract: In the automatic transport of rectangular spinning cans between a can filling station and the work stations of textile machines which process sliver, it is known to arrange a can storage device in association with the can filling station, with a section of the can storage device for receiving empty cans from a traveling can transport vehicle and a section for storing and transferring full cans to the can transport vehicle, and with the can filling station between these two sections. The present invention contemplates the ordered and positionally exact transfer of the cans to and from the can transport vehicle by transferring of empty cans from the can transport vehicle to the empty can storage section such that the transferred empty cans immediately follow the empty cans already stored thereat. In the transfer of full cans to the can transport vehicle, a leading one of the full cans to be transferred is transferred into a corresponding leading one of the occupyable parking spaces on the can transport vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5714693
Abstract: There are dynamic sensors whose plunger is seated in the center of at least one diaphragm. In certain instances of use it is not possible to protect the sensitive diaphragms against inappropriate handling. For example, dynamic sensors are employed in the textile industry as yarn tensile force sensors. The diaphragm in which the yarn feeler is seated, which faces the yarn travel path, cannot be protected by means of a cover against unintentional touching, since dust accumulations between the cover and the diaphragm can hamper its function. For protecting the diaphragm it is therefore proposed in accordance with the invention that a support body is disposed a short distance behind the diaphragm and that the side of the support body facing the diaphragm has a support contour which is essentially matched to the contour on the side of the diaphragm facing the support body.

  • Patent number: 5704203
Abstract: A pot-spinning machine is equipped with a rewinding tube mounted on each yarn guide and with a central, common shogging drive of the yarn guides at one side of the machine. After a yarn break or similar interruption in spinning, in order to be able to initiate the rewinding operation immediately at the affected spinning station while simultaneously continuing the spinning process unchanged at the neighboring spinning stations, the shogging motion of the yarn guide is separated from the motion of the rewinding tube supported on the yarn guide, so that the rewinding tube is then moved only at the forward indexing speed of the yarn guide which is relatively slow compared with the shogging speed and which does not affect the rewinding of yarn onto the rewinding tube.

  • Patent number: 5699658
Abstract: A pot spinning machine holds a yarn rewinding tube in ready position during the spinning operation for immediate movement to an operative rewinding position in the event of a yarn break so that the broken end of yarn is not lost by winding onto the yarn cake already formed in the spinning pot and the yarn cake may then be properly rewound. The yarn break is detected with the aid of a yarn sensor which then emits a signal for immediately moving the rewinding tube into the rewinding position and clamping the yarn end. The rewinding operation can begin, even in the absence of a loose end of the yarn, if the yarn has assumed the form of a chord-like yarn segment extending substantially in the circumferential direction against the inner face of the yarn cake deposited onto the inside wall of the pot, which can be grasped and utilized to initiate the rewinding operation.
