  • Patent number: 5966780
Abstract: A method for improving the monitoring of the fill state of a sliver can (5) at a spinning station of a textile machine processing sliver wherein a defined portion (24 or 124) of a can bottom (22) is initially kept free from sliver (6) while a predetermined amount of sliver (6) is deposited on an adjoining portion (25 or 125) of the can bottom (22) and only after the adjoining portion (25 or 125) is covered with sliver, is the defined portion (24 or 124) covered with sliver (6). The method includes monitoring the defined (24 or 124) portion while the sliver is being drawn out and detecting when the defined portion of the can bottom (22) is uncovered to trigger a signal for exchanging an empty can for a filled sliver can. In one preferred embodiment, a sensor (27) for monitoring the defined portion (24 or 124) and detecting an uncovered can bottom is mounted on a service unit (16) which passes over the spinning stations.

  • Patent number: 5950411
Abstract: A device for transmitting yarn monitor signals to the control circuit of an open-end spinning station for determining whether a yarn spun by the spinning station is being drawn off or whether the yarn travel has been interrupted so that, in case of a yarn break, the infeed of the sliver into the spinning station is interrupted. Defects in electronic components in the circuit of the yarn monitor or in the sensor can result in a continuous yarn traveling signal to the control circuit of the spinning station despite a yarn break. The present invention therefore provides a receiver (5') for contactless receiving the yarn signal of the monitor and an oscillator (16) which can be actuated and deactuated based on the receiver output signal.

  • Patent number: 5947405
Abstract: The method by which a batch is ended in a spinning machine has an effect on its efficiency. As the rule, the end of a batch is determined according to a preset time, the amount of yarn to be produced, or a preset number of bobbins. In order to end a batch with the greatest possible efficiency, the present invention sets the batch end at a time at which full bobbins have been produced at no greater than 75% of the spinning stations operating in producing the batch. A minimum winding condition to be attained by the bobbins is predetermined prior to the end of the batch. The time still required for attaining the minimum winding condition of the bobbins is determined, and those spinning stations whose bobbins cannot attain the minimum winding condition by the time of the predetermined batch end are shut down.

  • Patent number: 5934060
Abstract: For the optimization of the vacuum output of a suction air installation of a textile machine, the vacuum output is adjustably regulated by initially starting a batch with a predetermined vacuum for the vacuum demands under basic operating conditions and additional fluctuating working conditions, counting the errors which cannot be rectified and the attempts to rectify the errors caused by insufficient vacuum during a predetermined time period, subsequently changing the vacuum output of the suction unit during a subsequent time period, comparing the number of errors occurring under the changed vacuum conditions with the number which had occurred in the previous time period, and increasing the vacuum output when the number of errors exceeds a maximum predetermined amount of errors and decreasing the vacuum output when the number of errors is at or less than the maximum predetermined amount of errors.

  • Patent number: 5916117
Abstract: A pot spinning machine for forming a spinning cop includes a spinning pot onto an interior of which yarn is deposited to form a spinning cake; a yarn guide which deposits the yarn onto the spinning pot to form the spinning cake; a yarn carrier onto which the yarn is rewound from the spinning cake to form the spinning cop; and a lifting member that engages, moves, and positions the yarn carrier with respect to the spinning pot. • Patent number: 5916118
Abstract: So that stray fibers do not become attached to the rotor during a yam piecing process in the spinning box of a rotor spinning machine, the rotor may be cleaned by an air flow generated by drawing air into the rotor by the prevailing spinning vacuum or by blowing compressed air into the rotor through a closable opening in the rotor chamber. To avoid the danger that soiling of the closure of the opening will permit aspiration of secondary air and impair control of the air supply, the closure is formed as a slide member with a leading edge configured for cleaning the opening during closing movement.

  • Patent number: 5906266
Abstract: An apparatus for transporting textile packages in a transport direction along an elongate package supporting surface comprises a guide track extending beneath the elongate supporting surface, an elongated thrust element slidable on the guide track, and an elongated lift element superposed on the thrust element for elevational movement toward and away therefrom via connecting pivot rods. A stop device on the thrust element limits the elevational movement of the lift element between a lowered position disposed beneath the elongate supporting surface and a raised position disposed at a higher elevation than the elongate supporting surface for displacing textile packages off the elongate supporting surface. A drive actuates elevational movement of the lift element and displaces the lift and thrust elements as a unit along the guide track when the lift element is in the raised position for transporting the textile packages displaced by the raised lift element.

  • Patent number: 5896735
Abstract: A method of producing a spinning cop in a pot spinning machine includes depositing yarn from a yarn guide onto an upper location of an interior of a spinning pot of the pot spinning machine to form an upper yarn deposit in the upper location; further depositing yarn from the yarn guide onto an area of the interior of the spinning pot spaced from the upper location to form a spinning cake spaced from the upper yarn deposit; and rewinding the spinning cake onto a tube to form a spinning cop and rewinding the upper yarn deposit onto the tube to form a top winding. Yarn forming the upper yarn deposit has a coarser yarn size than the yarn forming the spinning cake. During yarn deposit to form the upper yarn deposit the yarn guide is moved in one direction without traversing movement, and during yarn deposit to form the spinning cake the yarn guide is moved in one direction with traversing movement. Yarn windings are placed in parallel relation in the upper yarn deposit.
