  • Patent number: 5887417
Abstract: An OE spinning apparatus 1 with a spinning rotor 2 having a hollow shaft 26 supported radially in a wedge-like gap 25 of a support-disk bearing 4 and driven by an individual motor 9 comprising an armature 11 integrated into hollow shaft 26 at its end and a stator 10 fixed to spinning-box housing 12. Pressure roller 8 rotates about axis 24 angled acutely to rotor shaft 3 to urge rotor shaft 3 into the gap 25 and also in the direction of axial bearing 13, which may be a permanent magnet bearing or pneumatic bearing. Spinning apparatus 1 thereby has a high natural frequency, which makes possible very high rotor speeds.

  • Patent number: 5862660
Abstract: A method for removing both long and short yarn defects at the winding heads of a bobbin winding machine. Following the appearance of a yarn defect, the length of the defective yarn between the time of the appearance of the defect and the time of a subsequent yarn cut is determined. A suction tube is positioned in front of the winding bobbin to aspirate the defective yarn therefrom. The yarn is unwound, the entry of the yarn into the suction tube is determined by means of a sensor disposed therein, and the yarn length unwound from the winding bobbin and entering the suction tube is determined.

  • Patent number: 5857638
Abstract: A friction roller of a winding station of a winding machine is driven at a base angular velocity and is alternately accelerated and braked when the winding ratio is otherwise within a predetermined range of a selected whole number for causing slippage between the friction roller and a yarn package whereby the winding ratio is changed between values above and below the preselected range of the whole number. An evaluation device that calculates acceleration and braking values and a motor responsive to the evaluation device for driving the friction roller control the accelerating and decelerating of the friction roller when the winding ratio would otherwise be within the predetermined range of the selected whole number. Pattern windings of the yarn package are thus avoided.

  • Patent number: 5850729
Abstract: An apparatus for detaching the terminal spiral winding of yarn from the surface of a spinning cop, utilizes a hook-like yarn catcher element movable vertically along the cop by a pulling device and movable into and out of engagement with the yarn surface of the cop by a spring-loaded guide linkage to which the catcher element is mounted. The guide linkage has two levers pivoted at two respective pivot locations on a base plate and pivotably connected at two spaced pivot locations with the catcher element for coordinated movement to control extension and retraction of the catcher element, the distance between the pivot locations on the base plate being greater than the distance between the pivot locations connected with the catcher element for pivoting the catcher element with an increasing angle of inclination relative to the lengthwise extent of the cop during extension of the catcher element.

  • Patent number: 5850730
Abstract: In the course of the installation or removal of an opening roller, the opening fittings, which for example consist of many pointed needles or a sawblade-shaped metal strip, represent a considerable risk of injury. So far no devices are known in connection with opening rollers driven by individual motors which, make unintended starting of the rollers impossible while being replaced and serviced. In accordance with the invention, an opening device has a locking and unlocking device which assures an orderly operation of the opening roller driven by an individual motor and also assures that while servicing or installing the opening roller no danger of injuries can occur, for example because of an unintended starting of the opening roller.

  • Patent number: 5845865
Abstract: In textile machines that produce cross-wound bobbins, especially open-end spinning machines, the yarn is laid onto the cross-wound bobbins with yarn guides. The yarn guides are commonly reciprocated with a driven traversing rod. All the yarn guides of the work stations located next to one another are driven simultaneously by this traversing rod. For the sake of uniform laying of the yarn and so that the traversing rod will not sag under tensile and compressive strain, careful rectilinear guidance of the traversing rod is required. Four successive support rollers each are angularly distributed about the circumference of the traversing rod in such a way that, viewed in the circumferential direction of the traversing rod, mutually identical wheel flanges are always adjacent to one another. Those support rollers which are adjacent with respect to the circumference of the traversing rod and whose wheel flanges are toward one another each have the same angular spacing relative to the other two support rollers.

  • Patent number: 5845864
Abstract: A textile package transport system utilizing transport plates for transporting spinning cops, particularly within a textile machine which produces cheeses. Each transport plate has an information storage medium in the form of a magnet of ferromagnetic material having a high retentivity encodable by selective polarization thereof. Electrically chargeable encoding coils are arranged in the transport system to selectively apply a defined polarity to the magnets. The encoding coils are actuated by way of sensor signals generated as a function of a processing status of the spinning cop and Hall sensors are utilized for detecting the respective polarity of the magnets. Controllable electric switches are disposed in the transport system for controlling the conveyance of the transport plates within the system.

  • Patent number: 5832709
Abstract: A method includes dividing a yarn into various sections with reference to the pieced yarn section, with each section being characteristic of the piecing process. A yarn profile in each section is measured and evaluated against criteria specific to each section, whereby a yarn defect and its position on the yarn are determined and from which the cause for the defect is determined. The pieced yarn section is also divided into three subsections and each subsection is measured and evaluated against certain subsection criteria for the detection of fluff, trash accumulation and fiber sloughing.

  • Patent number: 5826815
Abstract: A yarn package (both conical and cylindrical) is produced at a winding station of a textile winding machine by alternately: accelerating the friction roller driving the yarn package with slippage between the friction roller and the entire surface of the yarn package; and decelerating the friction roller driving the yarn package without slippage between the friction roller and at least part of the surface of the yarn package, e.g., the neutral zone of a conical package. The periods (and thus the frequencies and angular velocities) of the friction roller and the yarn package are detected by sensors which communicate the detected values to a control and evaluation device. Based on the detected values during at least one phase of deceleration, the control and evaluation device estimates the yarn package radius during an acceleration phase.

  • Patent number: 5823460
Abstract: In order to determine the diameter or the radius of a textile yarn cheese during winding, two sensors are placed adjacent the cheese circumference at a fixed circumferential distance from each other to detect surface characteristics of the cheese, and their sensor signals are evaluated in a correlator to form running times. The circumferential velocity of the cheese is calculated by dividing the distance between the sensors by the running times, after which the circumferential velocity and the angular velocity of the cheese are divided to compute the diameter or radius of the cheese.

  • Patent number: 5816381
Abstract: A transport apparatus for feeding textile packages used in the textile industry in two transport directions includes a first pusher element being displaceable in two transport directions and a second pusher or indexing element extending parallel to the first pusher element. A coupling device couples the elements in various positions with limited mutual movement. A reversible drive mechanism is connected to one of the elements for acting on the one element to produce a relative motion between the elements. Latch carriers for the two transport directions are movably supported on the first pusher element. The latch carriers are pivotal into a transport plane of sliver holding containers in accordance with the transport directions by the second pusher or indexing element. The latch carriers are automatically pivoted into a transport position or an idle stroke position under influence of the relative motion.
