  • Patent number: 6311919
Abstract: A yarn guide imparts a traversing motion to a yarn being delivered to a rotationally driven takeup bobbin in a textile yarn winding operation to create a cross-wound bobbin, or cheese. The yarn guide includes a fork-like yarn guide pivoted about a pivot axis substantially perpendicular to the axis of the takeup bobbin, and an electromagnetic mechanism for driving the guide. The electromagnetic mechanism includes an air gap, a plurality of magnets disposed along the air gap, a plurality of yokes and at least one electrical coil extending into and moveable along the air gap with the traversing yarn guide. The magnets are disposed along the air gap and generate magnetic field lines which extend in a substantially perpendicular direction through the air gap.

  • Patent number: 6302349
Abstract: Random wound yarn packages are produced at a winding station of a winding machine having a friction roller for driving the yarn package being wound by: winding yarn onto an initially empty bobbin core with the friction roller to form a finished random wound yarn package; and, during the winding, continuously (i) detecting with sensors a value representative of the angular velocity of the yarn package and a value representative of the angular velocity of the friction roller, and (ii) calculating a value representative of yarn application of the yarn package being wound, which is indicative of yarn package quality, based on the detected values. The yarn application value can be calculated based on a number of revolutions of the yarn package or based on a winding time of the winding process, and the yarn application values can be recorded as a function of time for later reference or display.

  • Patent number: 6298649
Abstract: An open-end spinning frame (1) having a spinning rotor (3), whose rotor shaft (4) is supported, free of axial thrust, in the bearing wedge of a support disk bearing arrangement (5) and is fixed in place by means of a magnetic axial bearing (18). The axial bearing (18) has a stationary magnetic bearing component (27) fixed on the bearing housing (26), and a rotating magnetic bearing component (44) arranged at the end of the rotor shaft and having at least two annular shoulders (46) defined by recesses (47) in the rotor shaft (4). The sharpness of the annular shoulders (46) is reduced in the area between their outer circumference (58) and the adjoining radial faces (50) of each annular shoulder, e.g., via curved or beveled surfaces in such area, and the base surfaces (49) of the recesses (47) are each connected via rounded sections (51) with the radial faces (50) of the adjoining annular shoulders (46).

  • Patent number: 6293083
Abstract: A spinning rotor for an open-end spinning frame has a coating of a non-ferrous metal with hard material granules embedded therein, which is applied to the surface of the base material (12), in particular a nickel layer with diamond granules, wherein the coating is comprised of at least two layers (7, 10) containing hard material granules, and an intermediate layer (9) free of hard material granules between the layers (7, 10) containing hard material granules. In case of a separation in places of the wear protection layer, such as can be caused by a scraper in the course of cleaning the spinning rotor, wear protection and spinning properties at the damaged places of the spinning rotor are preserved. As a result, it is possible to prevent a considerable shortening of the service life of the spinning rotor.

  • Patent number: 6290165
Abstract: A method for operating an automatic cheese winder, having multiple winding stations (A, B, etc.) and a transportation system (21) for supplying the winding stations with spinning cops (39) and discharging them of empty tubes (40). The spinning cops are furnished by a preceding textile machine (30) having a spinning cop and empty tube transport device (31) communicating with the transportation system (21). The delivery of spinning cops to the winder (25) is continuously monitored by a sensor. A control device (46) of a tube monitor (24) assures that empty tube-equipped transport trays are kept on hand in the transportation system, and the tube monitor via the central control unit (27) initiates a controlled slow-down of the winder (25) into an energy-saving mode. Upon resumption of delivery of the spinning cops, the winder is accelerated from the energy-saving mode to an operating mode.

  • Patent number: 6269623
Abstract: An open-end spinning arrangement having a yarn withdrawal nozzle (10), by means of which the yarn is withdrawn form its transition zone within the spinning rotor and is rollingly and slidingly deflected while circulating in contact with the yarn withdrawal nozzle, additionally imparting a false twist. The yarn withdrawal nozzle has a depression (24), which is abruptly offset in the circulating direction of the yarn, by which the yarn loses contact with the yarn withdrawal nozzle (10) in the withdrawal direction of the yarn and over an angular area a of at least 10 degrees. Each time the rotating yarn tail sweeps over this depression, the false twist is completely interrupted and the actual twisting of the yarn at the yarn withdrawal nozzle (10) is cancelled.

  • Patent number: 6269622
Abstract: In rotor spinning devices whose rotors are mounted in a support-disk bearing and in which a support disk (1) has openings (5, 9) serving for the contactless measurement of speed for an optical control of a spinning-start carriage, deposits of dirt, especially fine dust, can build up in said openings (5, 9). This impairs the detection of signals. The portion of the inner surface (19) of the openings (6, 9) of a support disk (1) which is located in the direction of the outer edge of the support disk (1) forms such an angle (&agr;) with a line parallel to the axis of rotation (27) that the buildup of deposits of dirt is prevented.

  • Patent number: 6270033
Abstract: A method for operating the winding heads of a bobbin winding machine each of which respectively has a yarn tension sensor connected to a work station computer for detecting the actual tension in a yarn traveling from a delivery bobbin to a take-up bobbin, a yarn tensioner for regulating the yarn tension, a splicing device for automatic connection of yarn ends following a yarn break and/or a yarn cleaning cut, and a delivery bobbin changing device. After a splicing of the broken or cut yarn ends, the actual yarn tension is detected by the yarn tension sensor, and the detected value is compared in the work station computer with a threshold value which, if exceeded, results in actuation of the delivery bobbin changing device to provide a fresh delivery bobbin.

  • Patent number: 6244029
Abstract: A method and a device for winding a spun yarn body from an inside wall of a spinning centrifuge of a pot spinning machine onto a tube (10) introduced for such purpose into the spinning centrifuge. The yarn extending between a yarn guide tube (6) and the inside wall of the spinning centrifuge is caught by lowering the tube past the mouth of the yarn guide tube and the winding process initiated. A remnant of spinning yarn is created thereby between the draw frame and the tube foot. In order to avoid disturbances due to the free end of this remnant of spinning yarn, the remnant of spinning yarn is separated from the yarn body and the tube and subsequently removed by suction.
