Abstract: A razor blade assembly, in the form of a complete razor or a shaving unit for mounting on a razor handle, has a blade platform supporting a blade and preferably a twin blade is mounted in a razor head frame for rolling movement between a shaving position in which the blade or each blade is correctly positioned, relative to a guardbar and a top cap 28, for shaving to a retracted position in which the blade or each blade is withdrawn from the shaving position.

Abstract: This invention concerns a razor blade assembly in which a double edged blade strip 9, which subsequently provides first and second blades 10,16 of a twin bladed assembly, is provided, in an insert moulding operation, with a blade platform 11, end walls 15, a guard bar 14 and a blade spacer 13 moulded on the first blade 10, and a top cap 17, end walls 22, a spacer 18 and rivets 20 moulded on the second blade 16. After cropping of the metal joining the two blades or after folding over one blade on to the other, the rivets 20 are brought into apertures 21 in the first blade 10 and blade platform 11 to locate the two blades with their edges parallel and in staggered mutual relationship. Finally the portions of the rivets 20 projecting through the blade platform 11 are flattened to permanently lock the two parts of the assembly together.

Abstract: A razor handle has arms (13) for supporting a shaving unit (11) for pivotal movement about a first axis parallel to the edge of the blade (or each blade) of the shaving unit. The arms are supported on the ends of a U shaped spring (16) which permits the arms to be moved forwardly together to release the shaving unit and rearwardly together to grip a fresh shaving unit and also forwardly or rearwardly independently of one another to permit the unit to tilt about a second axis transverse to the plane of the arms (13). The spring (16) also provides a biasing force to oppose pivotal movement of the unit about the first axis.

Abstract: A knife sharpener comprises a scabbard 10 for receiving a knife blade 13. A sharpening device 11 is carried within the scabbard to engage a blade edge 14 within the scabbard 10 and can be moved manually along the scabbard to sharpen the blade edge 14. Thus, sharpening is accomplished while the blade is within the scabbard. A locking device 31 is provided to hold the blade within the scabbard 10. Part 46 of the scabbard 10 may be displaced to allow the sharpening device 11 to be removed for cleaning.

Abstract: A garden pruner has a leaf spring 14 secured at its outer end to one of the handles (12a) and engaging the other handle (11a) at its inner end. A slider (15) on the one handle (12a) slidably engages the leaf spring and is movable to vary the length of the spring between the slider and the inner end of the spring and thereby vary the spring force and spring rate.

Abstract: An open razor comprises a blade holder 2 pivoted to a protective cover 3 into and out of which it can be folded. The blade holder 2 supports a blade unit 8 formed by a blade 9 sandwiched between two side members 8',8" of plastics material. Guide grooves 15',15" in the side members are engaged by the inwardly-directed flanges 16',16" of a clamping rail 7 forming part of the blade holder.The blade units are stored in a dispenser from which they can be withdrawn by sliding the rail 7 fully on to a blade unit and then lifting one end of the rail to lift the blade unit against the force of resilient retaining projections which engage opposite ends of each blade unit to hold it in the dispenser.

Abstract: A razor system comprises a handle 10 to which a blade unit 15 can be connected by a releasable coupling, the razor handle being hollow and containing a dispenser in which a plurality of blade units are stored for attachment in turn to the handle when the blade unit, previously fitted in an operative position on the end of the handle, has been discarded. The releasable coupling 13 is a pair of resilient claws 13a engageable by snap action in a pair of recesses in the blade unit for pivotally mounting the blade unit on the handle, the blade units being slidable longitudinally out of the dispenser.
