Abstract: The invention provides a razor assembly comprising a shaving unit and a handle. The shaving unit has a platform, a blade, pivotal mounting for pivotally connecting the shaving unit to the handle, and apparatus for receiving a biasing force from the handle. The handle includes two flexible arms which at one end have pivotal mounting apparatus complementary to the shaving unit's pivotal mounting apparatus, the flexible arms being secured to the handle in a region spaced from the handle's pivotal mounting apparatus. A movable button engages the flexible arms and is movable for flexing the arms to disengage the handle's pivotal mounting apparatus from the shaving unit's pivotal mounting apparatus and for reverse movement which frees the flexible arms for engagement of the handle's pivotal mounting apparatus with the shaving unit's pivotal mounting apparatus. The handle also includes apparatus for exerting a biasing force on the shaving unit's apparatus for receiving a biasing force.
Abstract: This invention provides a steel alloy, for use for razor blades, the ranges of composition of which are given in the table below, the first column giving the maximum range for the alloy elements and impurities (the balance being iron), the second column giving a narrower preferred range, whilst the third column gives a particularly advantageous composition:______________________________________ Maximum Preferred Element Range Range Example ______________________________________ Ni% 15 to 25 17 to 22 20 Cr% 3 to 8 3.5 to 5 4 Ti% 2 to 5* 3 to 4.5 4 Al% 1 to 5* 2 to 4 3 C% less than 0.02 0.01 0.005 Mn% less than 0.2 0.1 0.05 Si% less than 0.2 0.1 0.05 N% less than 0.02 0.01 0.003 P, S% less than 0.02 0.01 0.

Abstract: A garden cloche is erected by folding an elongate sheet of transparent plastics material along crease lines preformed in the sheet. These crease lines include a central longitudinal line and at least two outer longitudinal lines permitting the sheet to be folded to form an inverted V shape with watering troughs along the bottom of the roof-shaped sides of the cloche. Moreover, lateral crease lines extending between the central longitudinal crease lines on a zig-zagging outer longitudinal line on each side of the central line alternate in length so that upon folding the sheet, the panels defined between adjacent pairs of crease lines are alternately inclined to one another producing corrugations which strengthen the sides of the cloche.
Abstract: A match splint is formed from a rigid core member, which can be substantially non-porous, e.g. of glass, metal or plastic, or porous, e.g. of wood or wood substitute, with an absorbent layer of finely divided particles or fibres adhering to the core adjacent the head of the match, the absorbent layer acting as the reservoir to hold the fuel, e.g. paraffin wax, as an impregnant therein.

Abstract: A method for the manufacture of matches which comprises applying to a match splint, before the formation thereon of the match head, a surface coating of an aqueous dispersion comprising (i) a low melting point solid fuel e.g. paraffin wax, (ii) a finely divided particulate or fibrous filler and (iii) either a water-immiscible volatile solvent for the fuel or a water-soluble or water-dispersible adhesive, or a mixture of the two; and thereafter drying the coated splint to deposit thereon adjacent the end thereof, on which the head is to be formed, a surface coating comprising a mixture of said fuel and said filler, and, if present, said adhesive.

Abstract: A shaving unit comprises an open framework to which at least one razor blade is secured by its ends, the razor blade having a cutting edge spaced at a predetermined distance from one surface of the framework which provides a guard surface for the cutting edge. The framework also has supporting surfaces within the boundaries of the framework to which intermediate portions of the razor blade are attached leaving substantial lengths of the razor blade clear of the framework to permit the unimpeded passage of cut hairs and shaving soap past the cutting edge and thence through the open framework.
