  • Patent number: 8125674
Abstract: A method and system is provided for partial job interrupt of an on-going first print job to cause a contemporaneous parallel printing of a second print job. A plurality of marking engines associated with the storage device for receiving and storing a plurality of print jobs in queue, executes a first print job and outputs the sheets to an assigned first sheet output. A user determines that a second print job sent to the system and stored in the queue behind the first print job will be undesirably delayed and so interrupts the first print job by limiting the executing of the first print job to less than all of the plurality of print engines within the printing system. An output of the first print job is maintained at the first job sheet output. The second print job can then be contemporaneously executed with the execution of the first print job with available print engines interrupted from the first print job.

  • Patent number: 8126155
Abstract: An audio device management system (ADMS) manages remote audio devices via user selections in video links. The system enhances audio acquisition quality by receiving and processing human suggestions, forming customized two-way audio links according to user requests, and learning audio pickup strategies and camera management strategies from user operations. The ADMS control interface for a remote user provides a multi-window GUI that provides an overview window and selection display window. The ADMS provides users with more flexibility to enhance audio signals according to their needs and makes it more convenient to form customized two-way audio links without requiring users to remember a list of phone numbers. The ADMS also automatically manages available microphones for audio pickup based on microphone sound quality and the system's past experience when users monitor a structured audio environment without explicitly expressing their attentions in the video window.

  • Patent number: 8126382
Abstract: This is a system to coat oil on a fuser roller in a xerographic marking procedure. The system has an IR sensor which is located adjacent to the metering roller and which measures the emissivity of an oil film on the metering roller. Once the IR sensor determines the emissivity of this film, it conveys the emissivity reading to a controller. The controller then controls the metering roller speed to thereby control the oil film thickness. Once a fixed oil film is determined, the emissivity can be used to ensure this same film thickness is applied from run to run. There is no need to redesign the entire oil coating apparatus when the desired film thickness is varied, the same apparatus is used only the emissivity will vary to vary the oil film thickness.

Abstract: A production process performance reporting system may include a plurality of print job processing resources and a computer-readable storage medium containing programming instructions for performing a method of providing a report of performance metrics in a document production environment. The method may include receiving job size information for print jobs and identifying a print job size distribution for the print jobs. Performance metrics such as, job turnaround time and inter-arrival time may be determined. It may be determined whether the print job size distribution exhibits a heavy-tail characteristic and a performance report may be prepared. If the print job size distribution does not exhibit a heavy-tail characteristic, the plurality of jobs may be processed with the print job processing resources based on the performance report.
