Abstract: A statistical machine translation (SMT) system employs a conditional translation probability conditioned on the source language content. A model parameters optimization engine is configured to optimize values of parameters of the conditional translation probability using a translation pool comprising candidate aligned translations for source language sentences having reference translations. The model parameters optimization engine adds candidate aligned translations to the translation pool by sampling available candidate aligned translations in accordance with the conditional translation probability.

Abstract: A system and method for guiding a user in building a query are disclosed. The method includes providing an interaction space in which a user formulates a query using a plurality of query building blocks selected from a predefined set of query building blocks. The user's formulation of the query is guided. Guiding selection of at least a next building block is provided by at least one of a content-based mechanism which limits the selection of the next building block to those which will yield at least one result from an indexed collection of documents, a structure-based selection mechanism which limits the selection of the next building block to those which meet a predefined grammar, and a usage-based selection mechanism which proposes a next building block based on patterns of building blocks used in building prior queries. Each of these guidance mechanisms may be provided with the result that the next block proposed is informed by each of the mechanisms.

Abstract: A method of operating a printer enables a controller in the printer to operate electrical motors for aligning printheads in the printer with greater accuracy. The method includes generating a test pattern on media with a plurality of printheads, identifying a first position for each printhead in the plurality of printheads from test pattern image data, operating an electrical motor operatively connected to one of the printheads to move the printhead in a first direction in the cross-process direction by a predetermined distance, generating a second test pattern on the media, identifying a second position for each printhead, comparing the second position of the printhead with the first position of the printhead to measure a distance moved by the printhead, identifying a first calibration parameter with reference to the predetermined distance and measured distance, and operating the electrical motor with reference to the first calibration parameter.
Abstract: Systems and methods for repeat photography and difference extraction that help users take pictures from the same position and camera angle as earlier photos. The system automatically extracts differences between the photos. Camera poses are estimated and then indicators are rendered to show the desired camera angle, which guide the user to the same camera angle for repeat photography. Using 3D rendering techniques, photos are virtually projected onto a 3D model to adjust them and improve the match between the photos, and the difference between the two photos are detected and highlighted. Highlighting the detected differences helps users to notice the differences.

Abstract: A printer operating method enables a controller to identify process direction errors in an optical imaging system. The method includes identifying a printhead roll error for each printhead in a plurality of printheads in a printer, moving each printhead by an amount that corrects the printhead roll error for the corresponding printhead, generating a plurality of dashes on media with the plurality of printheads as the media moves past the plurality of printheads, identifying a position for each dash in the process direction from image data of the plurality of dashes on the media, identifying a displacement in the process direction for each optical detector in a linear array of optical detectors used to generated the image data of the plurality of dashes, the displacement being identified with reference to the identified positions for the dashes, and operating the printer to compensate for the identified displacements of the optical detectors.

The method includes operating at least one marking station in a first printer with reference to a low frequency component and a high frequency of a velocity measurement for a web in the first printer, printing fiducial marks on the web with a marking station in the first printer, detecting the fiducial marks with a fiducial mark sensor in a second printer, generating a velocity measurement for the web as the web moves along a web path in the second printer that corresponds with the detected fiducial marks, and operating at least one marking station in the second printer with reference to a low frequency component and a high frequency component of the velocity measurement of the web moving along a web path in the second printer.
Abstract: A first processing unit is implemented by executing a first application program by using an internal computer in an environment where a first operating system is operating. The first processing unit performs a first process or an external service call in accordance with instruction information describing a process to be executed. A second processing unit is implemented by executing a second application program by using the internal computer or an additional computer connected to the internal computer in an environment where a second operating system is operating. The second processing unit performs a second process when instructed by an external service call to execute the second process. When the instruction information includes information specifying the second process as the process to be executed, a transfer unit updates the information included in the instruction information, and transfers the updated instruction information to the first processing unit.
