Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for processing a markup language document and its change history are provided. The method includes receiving first and second versions of the same target document into computer memory. One of the first and second versions of the target document is encapsulated within an encapsulating document. A change history corresponding to a difference between the first version and the second version of the target document is encoded. The change history is encapsulated within the encapsulating document. The encapsulated document can then be output. As each new version of the target document is created, the encapsulating document can be modified to reflect the changes, enabling prior versions of the target document which have been encapsulated to be extracted at any time.

Abstract: Methods and systems of ejecting ink drops from an inkjet printer are disclosed. The methods and systems can include a printhead with one or more stepped nozzles each with an associated entrance diameter and exit diameter. Ink can be received into the printhead and formed into ink drops in the stepped nozzles. The ink drops can each have an associated drop mass and drop speed. The stepped nozzles can be provided such that the exit diameter can independently dictate the drop mass and the entrance diameter can independently dictate the drop speed. As such, the complexity of jet design optimization is reduced.

Abstract: This is a paper web transporting component that is useful in a duplexing system that uses a paper web to be imaged. The unit has an IOWA roller (backup roll) with an image sensor above it and a cleaning web structure below it. Since excess toner or ink in duplexing systems can adhere to the transport roll, the sensor will pick up these impurities when scanning the surface of the paper web. Therefore, these impurities must be removed from the transport roll or scanning for proper image registration will be adversely affected. The movement of the paper web causes the transport roll to rotate so that the sensor can scan the entire surface of the transport roll.

Abstract: A method and apparatus receive a user login and first menu selections through a graphic user interface of a multi-function printing device. The method processes one or more first sheets through a document handler of the multi-function printing device by following the first menu selections. Once finished processing the first sheet (or set of sheets) through the document handler, the method can then receive different (second) menu selections from the user. Then, the method processes one or more second sheets through the document handler by following the second menu selections. In order to provide greater ease of use, the methods herein present the user with an option to revert back to any of the previous menu selections (e.g., the first menu selections) through the graphic user interface. If the user chooses to revert to the first menu selections, the methods herein can process one or more third sheets through the document handler of the multi-function printing device by following the first menu selections.

  • Publication number: 20110243429
Abstract: What is disclosed is a novel system and method for determining whether a pixel resides along a two-color edge in a halftoned bi-level bitmap. In one embodiment, a bitmap having a plurality of colored pixels is received. For each pixel in the bitmap, a window of size n×m is defined centered on the current pixel. The window is partitioned into a plurality of regions with each region having an orientation direction with each orientation direction having an associated numeric value. A number of pixels are counted for each of the first and second colors in each of the associated orientation directions. A determination is made as to the respective orientation direction having the maximum and minimum pixel counts for each of the first and second colors. Thereafter, a determination is made whether the pixel resides along a two color edge based upon the max/min counts and each associated orientation direction.
