  • Patent number: 7734636
Abstract: A system for classifying a genre of an electronic document may include a network processor configured to receive an electronic document and convert the electronic document to rich text format (RTF). The processor may be configured to parse the RTF document into lines of text ordered from top to bottom and left to right and assign tokens to each line of text based on content of the line and to line separators based on space between blocks of lines. The network processor may be configured to sequence the tokens, parse the tokenized document with a number of pre-defined document grammars, determine a probability for each genre corresponding to the electronic document, and classify the electronic document as the genre with the highest probability.

  • Patent number: 7734131
Abstract: A tunable Fabry-Perot filter (8, 118, 218, 318, 418) includes substrates (10, 12) with parallel generally planar facing principal surfaces (14, 16) including spaced apart facing reflective surface regions (20, 22) that are at least partially reflective over a wavelength range and define an optical gap (Gopt) therebetween. At least one substrate of the pair of substrates is light transmissive over the selected wavelength range to enable optical coupling with the optical gap. Electrodes (24, 26) are disposed on the facing principal surfaces of the substrates. The electrodes on the facing principal surfaces of the substrates are define an electrode gap therebetween such that electrical biasing of the electrodes simultaneously modifies the optical and electrode gaps.

  • Patent number: 7731188
Abstract: A sheet handling system comprising a sheet registration system having sheet registration nips and a receiving system for a sheet including a capturing point for engaging said sheet. Auxiliary nips are positioned between the sheet registration nips and the receiving station. The auxiliary nips are moveable between an open and closed position. A controller receives a signal indicative of the length of the sheet and sends a signal to the auxiliary nips to be in a sheet engaging position when the length of the sheet is less than the distance between the sheet feeding nips and the capturing point of the receiving station and be in an open position if the length of the sheet is greater than the distance between the sheet registration nips and the capturing point of the receiving station. In another embodiment, the auxiliary nips are maintained in their open position until the trailing edge of a sheet is about to leave the sheet registration nips, at which point the auxiliary nips are closed.

  • Patent number: 7731342
Abstract: A system and method for image correction in a direct marking system is provided using input scaling. The system and method utilize spatial dependent scale factors for each color of a liquid ink printer in the direct marking system. The value of each scale factor depends upon the ratio of the target mass to the average mass of the ink drops in the region to be corrected. The target mass is typically equal to or near the lowest average mass to insure that all regions can be adjusted to common output color. All input values received by the direct marking system and corresponding to a region to be corrected are multiplied by the appropriate scale factor to correct for drop volume variations among different printheads of the direct marking system. Each printhead includes a plurality of ejectors for depositing ink on a recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20100134849
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes an image accepting module, a number accepting module, a discriminating module and a criterion modifying module. The image accepting module receives image data of plural images. The number accepting module receives the number of images delimiting the received images. The number is input by a user. The discriminating module determines whether or not each of the received images corresponds to the images delimiting the received images based on a criterion. The criterion modifying module changes the criterion when the number of images determined as an image corresponding to the images delimiting the received images is not in a given relationship with the received number. The discriminating module determines, after the criterion is changed, whether or not each of the received images corresponds to the images delimiting the received images based on the modified criterion.

  • Publication number: 20100134851
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes an image reception unit, a determination unit, a display unit, a correction accepting unit and a criterion modifying unit. The image reception unit receives a plurality of images. The determination unit determines whether each image received by the image reception unit corresponds to a delimiter image that represents a delimiter of a document based on a criterion and outputs a detection result. The display unit displays the detection result output by the determination unit. The correction accepting unit accepts correction of the displayed detection result in accordance with an operation performed by a user. The criterion modifying unit modifies the criterion based on the accepted correction. The determination unit re-determines whether each image received by the image reception unit corresponds to the delimiter image based on the criterion after the criterion is modified by the criterion modifying unit.
