Abstract: A communication apparatus is connected to a communication line by using a dynamically-set global Internet-Protocol address and includes a detector and a transmitting unit. The detector detects a change in the global Internet-Protocol address. The transmitting unit transmits the changed global Internet-Protocol address to a mail server when the detector detects the change in the global Internet-Protocol address, so that the changed global Internet-Protocol address is registered in an Internet-Protocol-address limiting function of the mail server.

Abstract: A container includes a container body, an opening/closing member, and a suppressing portion. The container body has a circumferential surface, and has an opening in the circumferential surface through which powder contained in the container body is discharged to outside of the container body. The opening/closing member has an inner circumferential surface. The opening/closing member is mounted to the container body, and is moved, when the container body is relatively rotated to one side in a circumferential direction of the container body, from a closed position to an open position. The opening/closing member is moved, when the container body is relatively rotated to another side in the circumferential direction, from the open position to the closed position. The suppressing portion is formed in the inner circumferential surface of the opening/closing member. The suppressing portion suppresses leakage of the powder from the opening/closing member to outside of the opening/closing member.
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit that forms an unfixed image on a sheet; and a fixing unit that includes a first rotary member and a second rotary member, which are in contact with each other to form a nip part, and that fixes the unfixed image formed in the image forming unit to the sheet by allowing the sheet to pass through the nip part. When a large-width sheet having a larger width than a preceding sheet that has previously passed through the nip part is allowed to pass through the nip part, adjustment in which the first rotary member and the second rotary member are displaced in directions away from each other, while forming the nip part, is performed in the fixing unit.
Abstract: A processing apparatus includes a detector, an acceptance unit, and a manager. The detector detects a user. The acceptance unit accepts an operation performed by the user for selecting a process. The manager manages plural resources of the processing apparatus so as to reserve, upon detection of the user by the detector, the plural resources and to release, upon acceptance of the operation by the acceptance unit, a resource among the plural resources that is not necessary for the process selected in the operation.
Abstract: A toner for developing an electrostatic image includes toner particles that each include a binder resin and a release agent. The ratio B/A of a half-width B of an exothermic peak Tc resulting from the release agent which is determined in a first cooling step by differential scanning calorimetry to a half-width A of an endothermic peak Tm resulting from the release agent which is determined in a first heating step prior to the first cooling step by differential scanning calorimetry is 1.5 or more and 4 or less.

Abstract: An additive manufacturing system operates an extruder to extrude a swath of thermoplastic material through at least two nozzles of the extruder to form a swath of thermoplastic material along a path of relative movement between the extruder and a platform. The speed of the extruder along the path corresponds to a predetermined speed selected with reference to an orientation of the extruder and the angle for the path of relative movement between the extruder and the platform. A controller in the system operates at least one actuator operatively connected to at least one of the extruder and the platform to move the at least one of the extruder and the platform relative to the other of the extruder and the platform along the path of relative movement at the predetermined speed to make the swath of the thermoplastic material contiguous in a cross-process direction.
Abstract: A direct-to-object printer includes an object indexing subsystem. The object indexing subsystem includes an indexer actuator that operates a rotating indexer to rotate a collar in which an object is mounted. The amount of collar rotation enables the object held by the collar to be turned a predetermined angular amount so operation of the indexing subsystem between passes by a plurality of printheads enables different portions of a curved object surface to be printed during different passes.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure include methods and systems for altering an orientation of a logical cell at a multi-function device. In one embodiment, before rasterization, a user submits a job having multiple pages and an initial instruction to arrange ānā number of pages on a single medium. Each page has a pre-defined orientation. Another instruction is received to alter a pre-defined orientation of a selected page in the corresponding logical cell. An N-up operation is performed to arrange the ānā number of pages on the single medium. Each page arranged on the single medium represents a logical cell. While performing the N-up operation, the pre-defined orientation of a logical cell corresponding to the selected page is altered. The logical cell with the altered orientation is printed and the remaining logical cells with respective pre-defined orientation are printed on the single medium.
