Abstract: A data processing apparatus includes: a receiving unit that receives first data defining a shape and a color of a three-dimensional object; and a generating unit, wherein when two or more color components interfere with each other in one voxel as a result of performing a halftoning process for each of plural color components based on color information in the first data, the generating unit generates color voxel data by assigning any one of the two or more color components in the first data as color information of the one voxel, using a density ratio of colors corresponding to the two or more color components in the first data.

Abstract: In a method for detecting an object in an input image, an input image vector representing the input image is generated by performing a regional maximum activations of convolutions (R-MAC) using a convolutional neural network (CNN) applied to the input image and using regions for the R-MAC defined by applying a region proposal network (RPN) to the output of the CNN applied to the input image. Likewise, a reference image vector representing a reference image depicting the object is generated by performing the R-MAC using the CNN applied to the reference image and using regions for the R MAC defined by applying the RPN to the output of the CNN applied to the reference image. A similarity metric between the input image vector and the reference image vector is computed, and the object is detected as present in the input image if the similarity metric satisfies a detection criterion.

Abstract: A system and method, which utilizes incremental smoothing and mapping (iSAM) algorithm and automatically builds a beacon location map using various sensor and environmental information. The aforesaid iSAM algorithm fuses received signal strength indicator (RSSI) values available from different beacons in the environment and the information provided by the IMU sensor. The aforesaid iSAM algorithm is capable of simultaneously generating beacon and landmark map and localize the mobile computing device in the environment without having any prior information about any beacon locations. To accommodate for noisy sensor data and achieve better convergence for the iSAM algorithm, the system uses a prior beacon location map, which contains location information of some of the BLE beacons located in the environment. These known beacon locations provide cleaner environmental information to the iSAM algorithm and hence improve the overall estimation of beacon locations, which were not available apriori.

Abstract: A print job received by a printing system has subsets of items. Multiple items are printed on each sheet. Finishing devices of the printing system are limited to processing a single subset of the items at a time, causing printing devices to wait skipped-pitch delays. An unadjusted number of machine-hours to complete the print job is determined based on continuous printing without interruption. A skipped-pitch delay is assigned to each of the subsets of items based on the number of sheets used to print each of the subsets of items. A revised number of machine-hours to complete the print job is calculated by adding the total skipped-pitch delay for the print job to the unadjusted number of machine-hours. The number of the printing devices and the finishing devices to use to complete the print job is determined based on the revised number of machine-hours.

Abstract: A belt capable of holding a toner image, the belt being used for an image forming apparatus, includes a multilayer structure including a surface layer defining an outer peripheral surface of the belt. The belt has a 5-sec volume resistivity at 100 V of 10.0 log ?·cm or more and 12.5 log ?·cm or less. The outer peripheral surface of the belt has a 3-sec surface resistivity at 100 V of more than 11.0 log ?/sq and 13.5 log ?/sq or less. The difference between a 1-sec surface resistivity of the outer peripheral surface of the belt at 100 V and a 100-sec surface resistivity of the outer peripheral surface of the belt at 100 V is 0.5 or less.
Abstract: A powder passage component includes a first passage defining unit, a second passage defining unit, and a sealing section. The first passage defining unit has at least a first connecting opening which is formed at a part thereof and which has a first peripheral edge. The first passage defining unit defines a passage space which allows powder to pass therethrough. The second passage defining unit has a second connecting opening having a second peripheral edge, is connected to the first connecting opening of the first passage defining unit at the second connecting opening, and defines a passage space which allows the powder to pass therethrough. The sealing section seals the first peripheral edge and the second peripheral edge. The sealing section includes a liquid gasket. The sealing section has a groove that has a bottom portion and a side facing the corresponding passage space. The groove is formed along one of the first peripheral edge and the second peripheral edge.
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a reception unit and a conversion unit. The reception unit receives as a designated color a color of an image desired to be seeable when irradiated with light at a specific wavelength. The conversion unit converts, when converting image data on an image to be printed into print data, a color value of the designated color received by the reception unit into a color value including a value for outputting a special color material that has absorption properties for the light at the specific wavelength.
Abstract: A printer is configured to apply marking material to print media to create a printed item, and a transport belt is positioned to receive the printed item from the printer and is configured to dry the marking material on the printed item. The transport belt has a middle layer attached between outer and inner layers, and the printed item contacts the outer layer. The outer and inner layers are non-perforated entangled fiber materials that are porous and that are more flexible than the middle layer.
