  • Patent number: 7313337
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for sensing residual toner mass after transfer of a xerographic image, to facilitate the identification and characterization of different types of transfer defects. The technique employed utilizes a nominal residual mass signature, measured at the start of a job, in conjunction with subsequent residual mass signature, where the calculated difference between the nominal and subsequent signatures is used to indicate transfer defects and changes in transfer efficiency.

  • Patent number: 7312883
Abstract: An image forming system comprises a request analysis section which analyzes an input image forming process request and specifies a peripheral device for use in executing an image forming process and a judgment section to judge whether or not a version upgrade is performed in the peripheral device. A process execution control section executes the process when it is judged that no version upgrade is being performed in the peripheral device, and instructs an input/output section to display, via a report section, a message indicating a version upgrade being performed when it is judged that a version upgrade is being performed. In this manner, user convenience during version upgrade time is enhanced.

  • Patent number: 7313696
Abstract: A method enables a recipient of JPEG image data to authenticate the JPEG image data by producing a hashing function from a first section of the JPEG image data. A first integrity checking value is produced from the hashing function produced from the first section of JPEG image data and, from a least significant transmitted bit-plane of a second section of the JPEG image data, an embedded encrypted signature string is extracted and decrypted to generate a second integrity checking value. The first and second integrity checking values are compared and the first section of the JPEG image data is authenticated when the second integrity checking value matches the first integrity checking value.

  • Patent number: 7311370
Abstract: Provided is a driving circuit for an inkjet recording head, the inkjet recording head having plural pressure generation chambers filled with ink, a nozzle, and a vibration generation section which causes a pressure change in each pressure generation chamber. The driving circuit includes: a driving waveform generation section including first and second waveform generation sections that generate respectively different driving waveforms during one driving cycle on the basis of sizes of ink droplets; a control section that outputs a waveform select signal; and a driving waveform supply section that supplies a driving waveform selected based on the waveform select signal to the vibration generation section. When the selected driving waveform is generated by the first waveform generation section, the driving waveform is selected during each of periods into which the driving cycle is divided, and is supplied to the vibration generation section.

  • Patent number: 7313762
Abstract: Systems and methods to enable real-time and near real-time storyboarding on the World Wide Web in addition to a graphical user interface for video parsing and browsing the of the storyboard. Specifically, storyboarding can be accomplished on the World Wide Web by parsing an input video into representative or key frames. These frames then can be posted to a web document, or the like, for subsequent viewing by a user. This allows a video to be distilled down to the essential frames thus eliminating storage and bandwidth problems as well as eliminating the need for a user to view the entirety of the video. Furthermore, the graphical user interface allows a user to visually interact with an input video signal to determine the key or representative frames, or to retrieve video segments associated with already determined key frames.

  • Patent number: 7312799
Abstract: Provided herein are teachings directed to calibrating an output device such as a color display, using a visual method of determining the gamma for the blue primary that is easier to perform and more consistent than methodologies employing a luminance-matching task. The methodology is based on the insight that accurate gamma estimation for blue is important not for luminance reproduction, but for proper color-balance, and most importantly grey-balance. Thus, it follows to use grey-balancing, rather than luminance-matching, as the criterion for selecting the blue gamma value. One variant as taught herein is to provide a user visual task to find a patch best representing neutral, given previously determined calibrated digital values for the red and green primaries that produce 50% fractional luminance. A large patch is displayed within a larger surround containing both a white border and either a checkerboard or a line pattern, so as to establish a reference for the neutral axis.

  • Publication number: 20070291005
Abstract: A display section of an operation panel is raised relative to a horizontal plane. If the display section consists of a liquid crystal having an angle of visibility of 80 degrees (i.e., with an angle formed between the line normal to the display surface of the display section and the visibility range limit being 40 degrees), the display section is raised at about 50 degrees relative to the horizontal plane, so that visibility can be ensured both at the wheelchair seated position and at the standing position at which the non-handicapped person stands up. Further, by arranging visual recognition keys (a menu key etc.) which require an operator to view the display section during operation thereof outside of a projection region of the display section, the operator's hand on the operation panel never hides the display section during operation.
