  • Publication number: 20070133062
Abstract: A method is described to match an original binary image with the dynamic range of a desired target document. The original binary image is restored first to contone and a histogram of the contone image is processed to generate a TRC for the contone image with improved dynamic range. The histogram processing includes determining a histogram of the contone image, and generating the TRC based on matching the determined histogram with a target histogram profile. This helps in matching outputs from legacy devices to a desired quality.

  • Patent number: 7229735
Abstract: A toner composition for use in a xerographic or electrostatographic imaging process. The toner composition includes a toner particle and an optional primary external surface additive and a friable external surface additive. The friable external surface additive may also be a material that is capable of functioning as a primary external surface additive. The friable external surface additive is generally larger than the primary surface additive and capable of having portions of the friable particle broken or abraded off during the imaging process. The particles that are abraded off the friable additive can replace the primary external additive particles that become embedded into toner particles during the development process. The friable additives contribute to reducing toner aging and provide a toner with satisfactory flow and triboelectric properties.

  • Patent number: 7230604
Abstract: A drive method for a display medium containing two particle types can drive the display medium with a low voltage and thereby achieve high image resolution, downsize the drive circuit, and lower the cost while improving the durability of the display medium. The display medium has a pair of substrates, at least one of which is transparent, disposed with a gap therebetween, and two types of particles of different color and charge characteristics sealed between the pair of substrates. To change the displayed image, the drive method applies a voltage pulse to at least one of the pair of substrates to pull particles that are to move to the substrate to which the particles that are to move adhere, and then applies a voltage pulse to move the particles that are to move to the substrate opposite the substrate to which the particles that are to move adhere.
