  • Patent number: 7203668
Abstract: Techniques managing syntactic and semantic ambiguity allow two different kinds of processing and representation of ambiguity to work together. The techniques allow linear logic semantic assembly to work with packed functional (f) structures and provide for contexted version of linear logic where semantic contributions are read from the packed functional (f) structure and pre-pended with the contents of the functional (f) structure to which they pertain. Linear logic reasoning may then be performed in the contexted linear logic to derive possible meanings from the contexted contributions from the packed functional (f) structure. Deductions in the contexted linear logic do not require fully expanding each syntactic parse. Techniques applying skeleton/modifier techniques to contexted reasoning are provided by creating a contexted modifier applicable only for certain syntactic readings.

  • Patent number: 7202006
Abstract: A reimageable recording medium includes a substrate, a display layer, and a protective layer. The protective layer comprises a microencapsulated diarylethene material that is capable of switching between a UV absorbing and UV transparent state. During an imaging process, the protective layer is switched from a UV absorbing state to a UV transparent state to allow UV light of a sufficient wavelength to convert a photochromic material of the display layer to a colored state to form an image. The protective material is then switched back to a UV absorbing state to prevent the UV light component from a reading source to convert unimaged areas of the display layer to change color, which would reduce the contrast and resolution of the imaged medium.

Abstract: A media path control device has two sets of parallel arms with opposing rollers to manipulate the movement of print media. The arms are moveable in a substantially vertical plane through motors. The arms can be of different lengths to establish an optimal trajectory or height of the media to change the trajectory or travel path of the media. The rollers are reversible to change the trajectory or travel path of the media. Rotation of the arms may be stopped at various points along their travel arc to position the media at a desired or plane.

  • Patent number: 7203899
Abstract: Systems and methods measure the navigability of a web site by determining the rate at which simulated users absorb information scent. This note can be viewed as a measurement of accomplishing the users' information goals. As users reach their target information, the users terminate their navigation in the web site. Thus, the rate at which users finish is a measurement of the navigability of the web site.

  • Patent number: 7201022
Abstract: Methods of reducing the intrusions or migrations of photolithography materials by introducing a sol-gel layer onto a porous thin film prior to applying the photolithography/photoresist material layer. Curing the sol-gel layer results in the sol-gel layer merging or unifying with the underlying porous thin film layer so that the combined sol-gel/thin layer exhibits substantially the same properties as the untreated porous thin film layer before the sol-gel was applied. As a result, a greater etching accuracy is achieved.

  • Patent number: 7203843
Abstract: A system is provided for improving security during data transfer. A transmitter side transfer controller (12) divides data to be transferred into a plurality of pieces, removes a portion of data from each piece and encrypts the piece, and uploads each encrypted piece to different relay servers (22) on the Internet (20). The transmitter side transfer controller (12) also provides a receiver side transfer controller (12) information indicating which piece is uploaded to which relay server (22) using a secure communication protocol. The data of the fragment removed from each piece is transmitted to the receiver side transfer controller (12) separately from the encrypted pieces. The receiver side transfer controller (12) downloads the encrypted pieces each uploaded to the relay server (22), decodes the encrypted pieces, complements the decoded data with the data of the fragment to restore the state before the removal, and assembles the restored pieces to obtain the original data to be transferred.
