Patent number: 7196627Abstract: Processing a module packaged within a container involves securely affixing a tag comprising a tag memory and a tag communication element to the container. While the module is enclosed in the container, information pertaining to the module is selectively stored in the tag memory for later readout and processing. A container for enclosing a module includes an electronic tag having a tag memory and a tag communication element. The tag communication element is adapted to receive information from a source, and the tag memory stores that information. While the module is packaged in the container, either first module information or second module information is stored in the tag memory. The module information pertains to the subsequent use of the module. The electronic tag is embedded in the container material, or securely affixed to the container. The electronic tag may span a container opening so that the tag is damaged upon opening the container, providing security against improper re-use.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2004Date of Patent: March 27, 2007Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Heiko Rommelmann, Alberto Rodriguez, Scott J. Patent number: 7196802Abstract: A CPU executes decomposing processing based on data by a PDL received through a communication interface, and generates data by an intermediate language for each band. Here, the CPU judges whether or not the values of the image data are all zero as the image data in the band. As to the image data whose values become all zero, rendering processing from the intermediate language to the image data and compression processing of the image data by a JBIG compressor are omitted, and only a termination code is stored as coded data in a main memory. Thereby, the processing speed can be increased. A JBIG decompressor decompresses the coded data to generate output image data, which is outputted to a printing unit. Thus, the image processing device of the invention increases the speed of generating coded data, and enhances the total throughput.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2001Date of Patent: March 27, 2007Assignee: Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd.Inventor: Noriaki Tsuchiya

Patent number: 7196826Abstract: An image processing device which carries out processing for composing a first image (a color patch image for printing simulation) and a second image (a color patch image for printer management) with image data of a print job, and printing-out. When image data is received from an image processing terminal, image data of a first image and a second image are generated by first and second image generating sections. A first image composing section composes image data of an object of printing and first image data. A color correcting section carries out color correction on the composed image. A second image composing section composes the second image and an image which has been composed by the first image composing section and color corrected. In this way, appropriate printing simulation using an output device such as a printer is possible.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2002Date of Patent: March 27, 2007Assignee: Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd.Inventors: Mari Kodama, Ryuichi Ishizuka, Yasushi Nishide

Patent number: 7197161Abstract: A new information embedding technology is disclosed using conjugate screen concept. More specifically, two screens are applied in a halftoning process, one for the areas that corresponds to the symbol to be embedded (object), and one for the background. Both screens can be conceptually decomposed into a two-layer structure similar to supercells. The top layer determines the overall halftone texture, while the bottom layer, which is conjugate for background and object, carries embedded data. The information can be retrieved digitally or optically. In embedding, there is no restriction of the symbol sizes. The computation is relatively simple and can be implemented in real time. In retrieval, it is relatively robust to registration errors.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2003Date of Patent: March 27, 2007Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Zhigang Fan
