Abstract: A computer has a selecting section, an acquiring section, a display control section, a setting section and a processing contents data transmitting section. Abstract: A user conducts a telephone conversation without speaking. It does this by moving the participant in the public situation to a quiet mode of communication (e.g., keyboard, buttons, touchscreen). All the other participants are allowed to continue using their usual audible technology (e.g., telephones) over the existing telecommunications infrastructure. The quiet user interface transforms the user's silent input selections into equivalent audible signals that may be directly transmitted to the other parties in the conversation.
Abstract: A uniform identifier record for a digital file comprises a unique identifier field and a textual identifier field. The unique identifier field may comprise a uniform resource locator. Alternately, the unique identifier field may comprise an integer. In one embodiment, the unique identifier is created by adding a constant value to a last prior unique identifier. The textual information is a user-friendly string identifying the file. In applications where the file identified by the uniform identifier record is associated with a separate file, the uniform identifier record is appended to the associated file.
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for image classification. More particularly, the present invention provides a technique to classify an image as a picture, a graphic or a mixed mode image. The classification is based on an approximation of a segmentation. The approximation is HVQ-LUT-based and outputs classification maps indicating whether pixels are background, text or pictures. Said classification maps are filtered to eliminate odd isolated samples and the resulting count of picture, text and background pixel is analyzed before concluding whether the image has pictorial, graphical or mixed contents.
