  • Publication number: 20040193717
Abstract: A service processing apparatus and a service processing method make devices connected to a network cooperatively effect plural processes on document data when a specific event occurs. When a user defines a processing timing so that a job is executed when the specific event occurs in a desired job flow and a predetermined device, an instruction generating server creates an instruction and sends it to an instruction managing server together with a processing timing information. When the instruction managing server has been notified that the specific event has occurred, the instruction managing server identifies the instruction from the correspondence relation between the instruction and the processing timing and sends the instruction to a cooperate processing server. The cooperative processing server requests the devices to conduct processing so that a document is processed in accordance with the content of the instruction, and makes the devices cooperatively effect plural processes.

  • Publication number: 20040192426
Abstract: A service providing system passes an instruction form representing an instruction for each server from one server to another to make the server execute its target instruction in the instruction form while protecting confidentiality of the instruction for each server in the instruction form. By combining page dividing (of outputting a file of a predetermined page extracted from a document file having a plurality of pages) provided by a server with e-mail transmission provided by another server, the system implements a cooperative service of extracting a top page from a file of a document entered into an instruction input unit by a user and sending the top page via e-mail to a predetermined destination. The instruction input unit separately encrypts each description about process details for the servers using a public key for the corresponding server, creates instruction forms containing the encrypted descriptions, and sends the instruction forms to the server providing the page dividing service.

  • Patent number: 6798542
Abstract: Input gray-scale bit map information is inputted to an image forming position extracting unit for extracting image forming position information. An input computer-formed image is inputted to an image forming position extracting unit for generating an image forming position. At an image forming position overlapping unit, two image forming positions are overlapped with each other, and the composed image forming position is sent to a pixel value calculating unit and an image forming position determining unit. The image value calculating unit measures a width of the composed image forming position and converts the measured value into a pixel value. The image forming position determining unit calculates a barycenter of the composed image forming position. The pixel value and the barycenter are sent as image information. Encoding without distortion can be executed by enhancing the precision of the barycenter.

  • Patent number: 6798920
Abstract: A method for correcting a white line artifact between low and high frequency printed pixels. A printer may be able to print either a high or low frequency halftone pixels in some locations, but may be able to print only high frequency halftone pixels in other locations, the latter known as out of phase locations. If the image data is in run length encoded form, and the printer tries to print a low frequency pixel in an out of phase location, no pixel will be printed in that location and a white space results. The remedy is to test at the beginning and end of low frequency runs bordering high frequency runs. If the first (last) low frequency pixel of an original run is in an out of phase location, a one pixel run of the high frequency screen and of the low frequency color is added before (after) the original run, and the run length of the low frequency run is decreased by one pixel.

  • Patent number: 6798530
Abstract: Rather than implementing a printer as a single set of rendering parameters, a printer can be implemented as a “meta-printer” that comprises one or more virtual printers. The virtual printers define different sets of rendering parameters. Each virtual printer is accessed through a page description language or through a user interface presiding in a print driver or server. In particular, each virtual printer of the meta-printer has an associated set of rendering parameters. One virtual printer of this meta-printer may be set up to print a first type of content using a first set of selected rendering parameters. This same virtual printer may be set up to print a different type of content using a different set of selected rendering parameters. This may be repeated for any number of additional content types. A user can access these virtual printers to print a document containing a variety of different content types. A user may select one virtual printer of the meta-printer to render an entire document.

  • Patent number: 6798906
Abstract: The present invention provides an image processing apparatus and method that enables extraction of line segments of an arbitrary width from multi-valued images not uniform in background. To extract line segment data constituting a line segment, image data is scanned using a line segment basic element to extract line segment data from the image data. In other words, pixel data included in the line segment basic element is used as one unit and it is judged for each unit whether the pixel data corresponds to line segment data. Thereby, even if the densities of pixel data corresponding to, e.g., backgrounds are not uniform, by judging the line segment basic element as one unit, line segment data of a line segment width to be extracted can be extracted free of the influence of the densities being not uniform.
