  • Publication number: 20040144221
Abstract: Sheets can be manipulated for punching, perforating and/or folding. The systems and methods according to this invention allow sheets to be punched and/or perforated in various configurations. The systems and methods according to this invention allow sheets to be folded in various forms and/or configurations. Sheets can be inverted to ensure proper orientation. The systems and methods according to this invention allow the number and/and or locations of punches and/or perforations and the type and/or length of folds to be controlled on a sheet-by-sheet basis. The systems and methods according to this invention allow the sheet preparation module to be optionally configured within the photocopying system depending on the needs and flexibility of the finishing requirements of the operator. The modularity of the sheet preparation module design as a “plug and play” unit enables greater functionality for the manipulation of sheets.

  • Publication number: 20040146325
Abstract: Provided is an image forming process which can effectively suppress the occurrence of separation electrification between a belt surface layer and an image-receiving layer of an electrophotographic image-receiving sheet at a cooling and separation unit, prevent dust from adsorbing to charges at each surface thereof, and print high quality images having near-photographic quality, in which a belt-fixing smoothing device having a heating and pressuring member, a belt member, a cooling device, and a cooling and separating unit is used to conduct fixing treatment to an electrophotographic image-receiving sheet. In this case, a surface resistivity (SR1) of one side of the image-receiving sheet on which an image is formed satisfies the formula 1.0×109 &OHgr;/cm2≦SR1≦1.0×1014 &OHgr;/cm2, and a surface resistivity (SR2) of one side of the belt member which becomes in contact with the image satisfies the formula SR2≦1.0×1014 &OHgr;/cm2.

  • Publication number: 20040148592
Abstract: Source code is compiled using a multi-stage compiler that includes a tokenizer, a type checker, and a composer. The tokenizer segments source code into a sequence of tagged segments. The source code includes at least one instruction that composes a first abstraction and a second abstraction with a selected composition operator. The parser builds a tree using the sequence of tagged segments. The type checker performs a first pass of the tree to determine whether abstractions on the tree are well typed. The composer reduces the at least one instruction composing the first and the second abstractions on the tree to a third abstraction. The composer substitutes the first and the second abstractions on the tree with the third abstraction, wherein the type checker performs a second pass of the tree to determine whether the third abstraction is well typed.

  • Patent number: 6767683
Abstract: This invention relates to image formation toner, 2-component developer, image formation method and method for manufacturing image formation toner, for preventing clogging of the filter. Toner is used in which the ratio of the component measured by GPC to have a molecular weight between 500 to 1000 is 10 parts by weight or less with respect to 100 parts by weight of the entire toner. Since the case of clogging of the HEPA filter is the 500 to 1000 molecular weight component, clogging of the filter is prevented by reducing this component.

  • Patent number: 6768518
Abstract: A wavelet domain filtering technique is disclosed that removes or at least minimizes checkerboard-like noise artifacts that result from capturing a composite NTSC video signal. A Haar basis filter bank is used to obtain a two-level wavelet decomposition. Low-pass filtering is performed on the high-high (HH) and the high-low (HL) bands of the wavelet decomposition since the checkerboard-like noise artifact is primarily visible on the vertical and the diagonal edges of the captured composite NTSC video frame.

  • Patent number: 6767082
Abstract: A variable geometry fluid ejection system can be used to minimize a separation between a main drop and satellite drop on a recording medium in a bi-directional fluid ejection system. The geometry of the fluid ejection system is varied by placing an actuator in an ejector nozzle to selectively vary the geometry of the nozzle between opposing directions of motion of the fluid ejection system across a recording medium, thereby maintaining a constant distance of main drop satellite drop separation between the opposing directions of motion.

  • Patent number: 6768560
Abstract: A system encodes a separate assist channel that carries only a small amount of additional information in a hardcopy document to compensate for failure of an OCR system to accurately reconstruct a scanned electronic version of the hardcopy document. The assist channel protects symbols printed on the hardcopy document by computing Reed-Solomon error correcting codes for vertical columns of symbols. Decoding is synchronized along a line of text at each symbol block. When an error correcting code corrects an error produced during OCR processing, the remainder of the line containing the error is revised.

  • Publication number: 20040141193
Abstract: The color management system comprises a state-space based model for a pixel element in a dynamically varying color marking device. A sensor measures the color of the printed output for construction of a selected set of sensitivity functions representative of color output relating to inputs. The gradients of the sensitivity functions are extracted and used to develop the corresponding discrete multivariable state-space model of the pixel element. More particularly, the model is constructed from the Jacobian matrix characterizing a change in measured color output for a change in input color values of the pixel. Extension of modeling methodology for a single pixel is applied to multiple pixel elements.
