  • Publication number: 20040141050
Abstract: A xerographic print engine employs a photoreceptor with an image receiving surface, a printhead for directing light to the photoreceptor to produce thereon a latent image, and a developer for converting the latent image to a printable image to be transferred from the photoreceptor to a print medium during a relative motion between the photoreceptor and the print medium. The printhead has light emitting diodes disposed in plural rows arranged alongside each other on a substrate which also supports driver circuitry connecting with imaging electronics for activating individual ones of the diodes. An optical element focuses light of the diodes onto a row of the latent image, the focussing being accomplished concurrently for individual ones of the diodes located in a plurality of the rows.

  • Publication number: 20040141191
Abstract: A method for processing a digital image for printing by an image machine includes the steps of identifying image areas of a digital image and identifying an image pattern having image pattern structures therein. After identifying the image areas and the image pattern, the image areas are modified with the image pattern structures to generate converted image areas. The converted images are then merged with the digital image to produce an output digital image to be written on the photoreceptor where the toner of each image area is deposited on the image structures within the image areas in a periodic fashion.

  • Patent number: 6765605
Abstract: Correction of a positional deviation of split scanning lines in a sub scanning direction and modification of an image information split position are performed with a simple circuit configuration. When addresses of storage units in which split image information pieces A and B are stored are determined by address specification units, a overlap area is allocated in advance so that a split position is set based on image information split position information. As a result, dummy signals corresponding to off signals for a light source are stored in a storage unit other than storage units in which image information is stored. The dummy signals exert no influence on counterparts in the overlap area, and it is unnecessary to change a write address each time a split position is modified.

  • Patent number: 6766494
Abstract: The reading and writing system enhances free-form ink annotating and note taking by creating links between passages in response to free-form ink. The reading and writing system generates links between free-form ink anchors and also generates links between documents in different windows when a free-form ink stroke extends across window boundaries. The reading and writing system also removes a link when the free-form ink stroke representing the link is erased. The reading and writing system will display the ink anchors in a display showing all related linked anchors with their surrounding context when a corresponding link is selected.

  • Patent number: 6766138
Abstract: A resilient contact blade includes a blade root and a blade tip. The blade is movable from an inoperative position in which the blade root is spaced from a print sheet contacting an imaging member by a first distance. The blade tip is spaced from the print sheet to an operative position in which the blade root is spaced from the print sheet by a second distance that is greater than the first distance. A blade deflector is located in the path of travel of the blade from the inoperative position to the operative position. While the blade is moving from the inoperative position to the operative position the blade engages the deflector. When the blade is in the operative position the blade is deflected by the deflector causing the blade tip to contact the print sheet and press the print sheet against the imaging member.

  • Patent number: 6764801
Abstract: A printing machine for recording an image on a recording medium with marking particles, wherein process of making marking particles includes a method for dispersing pigment aggregates in a solution. The method employs an ultrasonic device to efficiently breakup particle agglomerates by driving the ultrasonic signal over a small range of frequencies around the acoustic slow wave frequency of the saturated agglomerate. At this frequency, the fluid vibrates out of phase with the solid and is forced out through the pore structure in the agglomerate. This relative fluid motion to exert high viscous stresses at the particle-particle contact points which leads to fracture of the agglomerate.

  • Patent number: 6766069
Abstract: A user-interface for selecting text from images of documents using auto-completion is described. The auto-completion process may be used to complete words (or text sequences), phrases, sentences, paragraphs, or other groupings of words. In response to user input, the OCR results for one or more images of documents are searched. The user input may include typing in a partial word (or the initial characters in a text sequence) via an input device or alternatively, annotations made by a user on a hardcopy document prior to scanning the document. One or more word matches are presented to the user for acceptance until the user accepts a word match or until all word matches have been presented to the user. Once a user accepts a word match, the word match is copied into an electronic document such as a word processing document, spreadsheet document, or other electronic document created by an application program.

  • Patent number: 6766051
Abstract: A method of color transformation is based on non-separable tiling of a color space. Non-separable tiling allows fine granularity where it is desired and coarse granularity where it is tolerable. Non-separable tiling of the color space provides improved transformation quality for a given lookup table size. Color space is recursively tiled and addressed. Transformation information from the tiles is stored in a database. Database searching techniques are used to speed information access. For example, a hashing function and hashing table are employed to store and retrieve transformation information. An image processor operative to perform the method includes a database index generator and a database of transformation information. For example, the database index generator generates a hashing key from pixel information and uses a hashing function to generate a database cell index. The image processor includes an output device. The output device is, for example, a xerographic printer.
