  • Patent number: 4047265
Abstract: A sliding clasp fastener stringer is disclosed which comprises a warp-knit support tape carrying a row of interlocking fastener elements, said tape having a web portion of a relatively coarse interstice structure suitable for stitching the tape to an article of clothing, and a longitudinal edge portion formed solely by knit-loop forming threads suitable for mounting the row of fastener elements stably into position thereon against displacement relative to the tape. The web portion and the edge portion are interconnected transversely by a connecting portion which is formed by threads merging from both of said portions and which has a relatively fine interstice structure.

  • Patent number: 4047402
Abstract: Two or more warp-knitted members of a tubular or cylindrical shape are interconnected by a connecting thread to provide reinforcement to be inserted longitudinally in a row of helically coiled fastener elements. The tubular warp-knitted members may be wrapped around core members. A choice is available of diameters of the warp-knitted members so as to be compatible with the particular shapes and contours of given fastener elements. A plurality of warp-knitted members are interconnected in such a fashion that the resulting reinforcement can be adapted for securing a relatively large-size fastener element onto the tape.

  • Patent number: 4047264
Abstract: A slider aligning device is disclosed for use in a separable slide fastener of the class comprising a pair of stringers having longitudinal rows of interfitting fastener elements on their opposed edges respectively, and a pair of sliders arranged reversely to each other on the rows of fastener elements for longitudinal movement therealong to engage and disengage the same. The aligning device includes a pair of recesses formed inconspicuously at the contracted end of one of the sliders, and a pair of tongues formed correspondingly at the opposed contracted end of the other slider. The tongues are so shaped and sized as to fit neatly in the respective recesses when the contracted ends of the two sliders are brought into contact with each other, so that the sliders can be held in correct alignment during insertion or removal of a pin member at one end of one of the stringers into or out of the guide channels of the respective sliders.

  • Patent number: 4045845
Abstract: A pair of top stop members of a synthetic resin are integrally united with several topmost scoops of respective continuous coupling elements of a slide fastener so as to cover at least the head portions of the scoops. In order to prevent deformation of the stop members as a result of forced contact with each other at the end of the fastener closing movement of a slider one of the stop members is made shorter than the other stop member. Thus, when the slider is moved to a topmost position on the rows of coupling elements, the scoop positioned immediately under the lower end of the shorter stop member abuts against the longer stop member, while the stop members themselves are held out of contact with each other.

  • Patent number: 4044504
Abstract: In a dual sash window assembly having a pair of overlapping sashes mounted within an outer frame for relative horizontal movement, the outer frame has a stepped sill, with a pair of parallel spaced rails formed thereon as upward extensions from the risers of two of the steps. Mounted on the respective rails for rolling movement therealong, the sashes have bottom horizontal frame members carrying weathertight sealing strips arranged to make sliding engagement with the exterior surfaces of the respective risers of the sill. The sealing strips serve to make the window perfectly weathertight in spite of the presence of dust outlets formed by cutting away parts of the rails.

  • Patent number: 4044445
Abstract: In the operation of punching a performed stop blank onto a pair of coupled fastener stringers placed over a stationary die, a sensor is provided which moves up and down over the die to sense mechanically the presence of any foreign matter such as the operator's fingers between the punch and die. The punch is permitted to descend fully onto the stringers on the die only after the sensor has completed its downward stroke. In the apparatus of the invention the up-and-down motion of the punch is effected as by an air cylinder via a lever, and the sensor is coupled to another lever which is spring loaded to follow the motion of the punch lever, in such a manner that the sensor travels faster than the punch. Limit switches are employed to prevent the full descent of the punch where necessary.

  • Patent number: 4042468
Abstract: Aluminum or aluminum alloy is first anodized to form an oxide film thereon. Before being colored electrolytically in an electrolytic solution, the anodized basis metal is made anodic in this solution, and direct current is passed therethrough. The basis metal is then electrolyzed in the same solution by use of alternating current for actual coloring operation. The electrolytic solution in use contains at least two metallic salts, together with or without a strongly reducing compound.

  • Patent number: 4041577
Abstract: A fastener stringer comprises a warp-knit tape and a row of interlocking fastener elements secured thereto. The tape has a web portion formed by chain stitches defining longitudinally extending wales, tricot stitches extending diagonally across and between a plurality of adjacent wales, and laid-in weft threads extending over and connecting every four wales. The tape also has a longitudinal edge portion consisting solely of knit-loop forming threads. Both of the portions are interconnected transversely of the tape by threads constituting the web portion and edge portion, respectively. One of the wales adjacent the longitudinal edge portion is biased toward the web portion to widen an interwale valley between the above-mentioned one of wales and its neighboring wale.

  • Patent number: 4042735
Abstract: A carpet construction comprises a pair of sheet materials having their opposed ends disposed in abutting engagement with each other. A sliding clasp fastener having a pair of stringer tapes carrying along their longitudinal edges rows of interengageable elements is provided for jointing the sheet materials together, the stringer tapes being attached to the reverse surfaces of the sheet materials immediately adjacent to the abutting ends thereof. A protective member extends along the length of the sliding clasp fastener and covers the coupled rows of fastener elements so as to prevent foreign matters from entering the spaces between the fastener elements. The protective member has means for preventing the coupled rows of fastener elements from displacement in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the sliding clasp fastener.
